Where does Gaijin get its information on Relikt armor?

Until recently, I had never really questioned where Gaijin obtained its data on Relikt ERA. I assumed that the manufacturer had publicly available information that could be used as a source. However, after looking into the matter, I discovered that the website of JSC Research Institute of Steel (NII Stali), the developer of Relikt, has long been unavailable. NII Stali is now part of the Kalashnikov Concern, but I could not find any detailed information about Relikt armor on Kalashnikov’s official website either.

I asked several forum members about the sources used for Relikt’s protection values, and I was provided with various articles, website excerpts, and secondary sources. However, most of these references do not appear to be connected to official manufacturer documentation or publicly released technical data.

After the recent changes on the dev server that increased the effectiveness of Relikt armor, I became even more interested in this topic. If Gaijin is making adjustments using such specific protection values, then I assume those values are based on some form of source material or documentation.

Could the developers clarify what sources were used to determine the current protection values of Relikt ERA? I would be very interested in reviewing the information that supports these changes.

This is the right question.

This is good.

Transparency is also good. Gaijin should have the burden of proof of showing how they deduce vehicle stats/armor, etc

Because how do we know that data is accurate?

Furthermore, I like how it’s established that Gaijin’s vehicle stats come from somewhere, but I have no clue how or where they get it.

And it feels like and definetly seems like Gaijin is claiming their sources are accurate without showing it

From journalists, from the German government, from NATO, from etc etc.
We 100% know that Relikt is so much better than K5 that DM53 cannot deal with T-90s equipped with Relikt sourced from the German military.
Journalists showed us advertised protection over K5, which matches the results Germany is working with.

Simple. Can any NATO round pen it?

If yes, buff it.

im 95% certain there is no sources for it. Its just set to whatever the devs want

There was an excellent thread about soviet ERA being way too strong and it was just ignored

relikt is newer than said NATO rounds, makes sense it counters them

There was an excellent thread about soviet ERA being way too strong

the thread being: “I feel like Russian armor is too good so nerf it”

So the solution is simple then. Add newer shells like DM83

no info on it being effective against relikt

But its newer than Relikt, so if the logic is that Relikt blocks all NATO shells because its newer, then surely all NATO shells that are newer than Relikt can defeat it?

But its newer than Relikt

the word you’re looking for “it doesn’t even exist”
but im sure it will come maybe around same time armate comes out

Literally already qualified in 2024
But using your logic DM73 should be enough to deal with Relikt anyway.

DM73 entered service 5 years ago. So that is newer than Relikt by a number of years. So its can defeat Relikt because its newer.

DM83 is a notable upgrade for the DM73, it will 100% be able to defeat Relikt and has been test fired already, its due to enter service very soon

I get it, Soviet mains have a superiority complex and anything that is better is clearly a marketing lie, but Relikt in game is the biggest load BS the devs have ever come up with (That and the mockup KH-38MTs)

The problem also arises when bullets much newer than Kontakt 5 cannot penetrate it.
In that post, the creator based his calculations on exactly that. How can the DM53, which is much more modern than the T-80U, not penetrate the T-80U?

T-80U is K5 not Relikt but yeah, L27A1 and DM53 were developed to pen it without issue but Gaijin have said “no its a marketing lie”

100 games of full uptiers for doubting gaijin’s infinite wisdom

ah yes western wunderwaffen should penetrate everything and win every time, very nice arguments

Ah yes, soviet wunderwaffen, that renders the tank immune to everything and win every time, very nice argument

it’s not immune you’re just bad

Do you have any proof of that, specifically referring to the numbers ingame? not that i dont believe you , but i have to ask.

We do know that its better, but where are the exact values from the buff coming from?
we know that gaijin doesnt buff things armor values without knowing exactly what was improved.
