I think 80% of every gripe regarding Naval from SKR to Scharnhorst to unbalanced matches etc etc etc ad naseum, blah blah blah can be addressed by one simple thing:
DECOMPRESS THE TREES

well we’re getting br ceiling up to 8.7 next update, i havent played much naval but i believe that’ll help at least a bit but yeah even higher br ceiling seems like a good idea (ik at least a bit about naval things outside the game and i find it very confusing how compressed it currently is)
scarnhorst isnt even op anymore it explodes faster than you can fire exstiguish now and floods fast too and guns are weak now too so its no longer a huge problem id say colorado or mutsu are a bigger problem
Given the snail won’t listen to anyone making repeated posts about the problems in naval, no, no they won’t. NAB is not going to be fixed barring continued protest.
I think one of the main issues is lack of cover or getting killed before you can even get to cover, this is where world of warships excels imo. It’s just not fun getting constant uptiers and focus fired at the start of the match, a major decompression would be great considering I don’t think they have any plans to make the game mode more enjoyable.
Decompression is often seen as a silver bullet - but it never it - it just shifts problems around - a few might go away, but not all.
And in naval with relatively low player base and +/- 1 BR MM, having a much wider BR range is also likely to increase waiting times significantly.
Plus if you use something at 7.7 (assuming the 8.7 Yamato stays top BR) you know you’re going to face it most of the time with something that is non-survivable.
In the dev server the other 8.0’s are not really comparable - although I haven’t got the Iowa yes the Sovietsky Soyuz blows up quite nicely when hit by 18" AP!
The problems are structural - Naval battles do not represent any form or real life engagements - all of WT is essentially fantasy game modes, but naval even more so than most.
also they need to assign naval BR’s to planes to avoid making it even MORE fantasy…
Yes it would fix, as a made up metric, 70%-80% of the problems and no argument from me - certainly not all of them. I agree about the planes having rescaled BR’s, but planes are almost useless now for legit players until bot AA gets a heavy nerf hammer, which is one of the remaining 20-30%. As for player base size that’s a circular argument: Make naval more fun by fixing these issues and you will prolly get more players. Don’t fix it and it remains small.
I think you are kidding yourself - issues like armour penetration, rates of fire, perceived unreasonable (in)vulnerability etc well outnumber BR issues
And it is not circular when there is actually cause and effect - naval has never been as popular as land and air games - not in the computer age, nor before then in table-top and board gaming.
Been playing naval this week and i pretty much always make it to a bomb drop sometimes 2 in the ju288, I imagine things like the il28 etc will be even better. Just need a big bomb and a fast plane.
8.7 is bullpub territory already.
At 9.7, Harriers, F117, A 10, su25, would be the norm.
Ngl. but before we get to that point I would really love to see some real good naval Spaa.
Next update there will be decompresion. Tho pretty nonsence decompression. Scharnhorst is going only at 7.3 and Colorado class is also only 7.3 while no armour and no AA Mutsu and Amagi are going at 7.7
