If they’re so bad as fighters, why do players use them as such? Because so far I’ve noticed that all they do is engaging bombers and fighters that are unable to climb to their altitude in a reasonable time

P51H5NA is the most OP prop in the game, yet you rarely see them.
Fighters easily deal with them such as Bf109 F4, P51C, P51, Yak-3/9, La-5, Spitfire, Ki-43, A6M3, etc.

why would an inexperienced player use a dive bomber as a fighter when they have multiple proper fighters to choose from?
inexperienced players mostly do not even reaserch the bombers if they do not intend to play them and focus on reasearching fighters instead
btw I’ve just checked the replay of my last game, and out of two B7’s and one SB2C, two players were 100 lvl and one was lvl 66, so there goes your theory

I think you could make the argument that if you equip a bomber with gunpods you should be forced to use the strike aircraft spawn (on maps where it’s a different location or altitude), but that’s just me.
I say this as someone who cleaned up the recent bomber-kill BP in a couple AB games flying a Brigand as a bomber hunter, and encouraged the rest of our squadrons to save time and do the same, ofc.

The only way to efficiently use something like the SBC or B7A2 is to fly straight towards the bombers and down them, if you try and fight something like a P-51 or BF109 at altitude then you sacrifice most of your energy and position for 1 guy, bomber hunting is far more efficient for these specific aircraft

If two equally skilled players were fighting 1v1 and one was in a p51 and one was in a SB2C with the energy adventage, the one in a p51 wouldn’t stand a chance

Well, if a G-91 had 3000 meters altitude adventage I’d bet on the G-91
