The pen is marginally worse (would still likely be one of the top shells though as the pen loss is only like 10-15mm i think), but the ammo would be innert, making it much harder to destroy. For a tank like the CR3TD, with no armour, no spall liners and no blow out panels. It would help a lot with mitigating the constant 1HKs.
Your assuming gajin understand the concept of innert munitions
That is true, but there is a tiny hope at least.
Though it might also be a marketing lie
cough blow out panels
Yep, those are marketing lies too
Welcome to another episode of:
gaijin ignores frustum and acts as if APFSDS rounds are just cylinders with flat ends and 0 diameter variations.
I like your name, classic milk man
Because clear Marketing Lie
This should summarize it pretty well
I wonder why 18.5g/cm³ WHA would be too much for their penetrator… Cant think of any particular reason…
And just saying, with gaijins current 23x685mm penetrator values, they’re left with a total mass of 19,486g for;
Entire rear section (Fins, Tracer-Compartment, Tracer) and parts of the frustum that they ignored for their calculation (~6mm)
So maybe, just maybe it isnt the 18.5g/cm³ figure that is wrong, but their own dimensions?
18.5g/cm³ is easily possible for this penetrator the second you consider its not just a cylinder with 0 diameter variations.
Here’s a brief example of how little the penetration would improve:
I’ve taken M829A1 dimensions since DM53 dimensions are not know, but the example would still be relevant.
M829A1 at 1750 m/s would penetrate 651mm of RHA @ 10m, 0°.
At 1780 m/s it would penetrate 657mm of RHA.
30 m/s is not particularly impactful in terms of penetration improvement.
Clearly Rheinmetall has wrong Dimension of there own Ammo, therefore the 18,5g/cm³ with a total weight of 5kg isnt possible to archive
And yet it can mean alot when it comes to ERA
Not relevant to War Thunder.
Unfortunately. DM73 having Anti-ERA abilities will probably be treated as a marketing lie
If it does get added at some point their going to low ball it hard like with M829A3
One of the biggest advantages of DM63+ should be the inert ammo, so that should be a notable improvement to survivability.
If that isnt modeled, then they will have greatly diminished value
The larger problem is an uneducated community having no idea what DM63 and DM73 actually are relative to DM53.
The community seems to think that DM63 and DM73 are these massive improvements over DM53 in all regards, and I don’t really know why that is, I can only assume they think: ‘cuz biggah numbah betterer’, in reality DM73 is simply DM53 fired at a slightly higher muzzle velocity (1780 m/s vs 1750 m/s) for War Thunder’s purposes.
You’ll get around about a 7mm improvement in penetration.
It’s literally DM 53 but different propellant, achieving 30m/s higher muzzle-velocity.
-+ 10mm of penetration difference

Gaijin will gimp it they denied DM-53 and L27A1 anti ERA based on in game testing. They just want this Russian cope simulator to continue
also requires the 120L55 A1 gun to fire, so only Leo2A7v, A7HU & CR3 TD would be able to fire it.
