What's the next step for helicopters?

Just curious into what the next helicopter’s we could get are (and what equipment they might carry)

I’m gonna guess possibly ecm type equipment but idk. (or if we get submarines, Anti sub weaponry?)

For helicopters there is not much left to receive as modern vehicles, the majority of them are already in the game. What is missing for the moment is armaments which were removed because judged too powerful for the game (for example certain types of radar-guided missiles like the hellfire longbow)

Fixed IR signatures. Fixed FM’s, fixed interior layouts.

Fix western weapons. Fix the terribly inconsistent BR placements.

Lots left to do with them

The question was what helicopters are left to add and even if I agree with you, there are not many more modern helicopters left to add to the game.

Oh there’s plenty if we want to add them

SH-60’s, SH-2’s, H-34, OH-6, AH-56, YAH-63, RAH-66, ACH-47 ARH-70 just for America.

AH-64E, MH-60M DAP, MH-530/590, H-64 MUMT for sub variants/folders of existing aircraft.

Depending on how ECM/EW is modeled/integrated we could potentially see the EH-60

I have just the post for you:

Helicopters could have many more roles than just attackers, gaijin just has to find a way to implement it. As logistics are more important and complex than the battle it’s self, I’d be a very cool thing to see.

Next step for Helicopters would just mean more advanced electronics and weaponry in most cases (obviously). Someone already listed off all the American helicopters but for the Soviets alone the Ka-52M, Ka-52K, Ka-27, Ka-60, Mi-8MNP-2 and Mi-28MMW, there plenty of other examples but that’s all from the top of my head.
Some of these are capable of carrying fire and forget LMUR and even Hermes-A which is basically a Pantsir missile with an anti tank warhead and proximity fuse.

Yep.

Love to see scouting, and maybe some sort of logistical/repair buff capability given to helicopters letting (and rewarding) them for bringing ammo or supplies to teammates near the front and/or EW degrading UAV/Scounting/missile effectiveness

Lots of possibilities

Drop from the sky. Thats their next step.

I’m probably gonna get flak here but, man I wanna bring my helis into NF but only the navalized ones with their current AGM’s & the addition of lightweight torpedoes.

Just the thought of spawning off a ship & flying a to point where in that I ambush a another ship with a heli armed with Mk. 46 torpedoes lol or to fight FAC’s with AGM’s.

There’s at least five helis that are in game that could be used in this role & the addition of seperate BR’s now, we could easily see them.

That & get the Aviation Tender/ Minelayer Drache to have its Flettner Fl 282 for the lolz of a WWII heli.

Older helicopters that could actually be fun, e.g AH-56

You’re not gonna get flak for it bro, like 7 people play naval

Only problem with this is the slant range on most ship air defenses is greater than the effective range of the seeker on the lightweight torpedo designed to fight subs.

Now the Penguin……

FnF AGMs for all nations is the clear next step.

I’d like to see it along with airplanes but I fear they’ll botch the implementation yet again.

For USSR we could get the LMUR missile. It can be used on the Mi-28NM and KA-52M (when added). Its fire and forget, has as 14.5km range, speed of 230mps and has a 25kg HE war-head.

Semi-related: hopefully there is a step for M197 equipped helicopters (AH-1Z and AH-1W) to receive the PGU-28A/B SAPHEI Belt

Bug Reports:

AH-1Z

AH-1W
