What would be the best 4.5 gen in the future?

Yes and no, from my understanding, depending of the engine they can be optimized for thrust or for electrical power to a certain point, i could be wrong but i assume that the best case to show this is the f-35, which has an engine that sacrifice thrust and life on the engine for cooling electronics, radar, ew… (it’s still not enough and is a big problem)

Its scheduled for 2029 or 2030 according to some sources. Right now not a single brit or It service EF2000 has any of these systems. Its still 4 years until we see it going live.

While Germany is introducing captor E mk1 EF2000 right now. The first jets are there and flying in active Luftwaffe squadrons.

How is that possible when Hensoldt says this?

Installation of the Mk1 Step 1 on the German Quadriga Eurofighters is then scheduled to begin in the course of 2027,” says Frank Döngi, Head of Eurofighter Radar.

In active service ? I don’t think. As far as I know only the IPA7 and some other test aircraft’s are currently equipped

There has been a T4 spotted recently so handover shouldnt be too far away, also hensoldt is kinda giving mixed statements

Following evaluations and tests during first half of 2025, HENSOLDT and Indra plan to release series production of the Mk1 Step 1 during summer 2025. ECRS Mk1 will be fitted to Eurofighter Quadriga Aircrafts at Airbus Defence and Space in Manching, Germany.

wouldnt be too unreasonable to assume some retrofitting was already done to T3/T2´s

Far as I am understanding, T4 being delivered and ECRS being installed are two different timelines.

T4 can be delivered and await the radar installations.

one of the points of the Quadriga programm is the T4 with ECRS MK1 (and subsequent retrofit to T2/T3)

Under the deal, announced in the Bundestag in November, Germany has committed to 38 new Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft for the Luftwaffe. The aircraft will be built to the latest standard and include the E-Scan radar Mk1.

The first finished T4 Luftwaffe Eurofighter has been photographed outside the Airbus plant in Ingolstadt/Manching. Hull number 34-03. Was end of March, just few weeks ago. As I said. Its rolling out now. While GB or IT will need several more years. So answer is easy: Currently Germany has the best EF2000 in service. With Aesa radar, Meteor and IrisT.

rollout != handover or being inservice, the bundeswehr has not offically announced that they have received a T4 so you cant claim it to be in service

It has official Luftwaffe markings, german flag, hull number. So the cookie has been eaten tbh.

So by that standard, the RAF had a T3 flying with ECRS MK2, in RAF markings etc long before 34-03 appeared.

ZK355, RAF 41 Squadron markings. So… and with ECRS MK2 arguably the better radar, Meteor and ASRAAM. Flight trials in 2024…

Also the first Spanish Typhoon with ECRS Mk1 took off in 2024…

And that glosses over the ECRS Mk0 (you know the radar I had German mains begging to be added in place of ECRS Mk1) which has been flying with our Gulf state allies for years now…

ECRS MK0 Gulf states EFT 2021-2022
ECRS MK1 Spanish EFT in 2024
ECRS MK2 British EFT 2024
ECRS MK1 German EFT 2026…

Handover for the T4’s isnt too far away anyway and german T4’s will be peak anyway

Considering german history of cheapskating, I doubt.

What? The first T4 was recently spotted and a lot of stuff was put on order, ever since the ukr war we havent been cheapskating

The topic is hard enough on it’s own. Nothing stops them from cancelling stuff midway, killing the whole project.
I really hate how european countries can’t cooperate on stuff properly despite being a total powerhouse.
I mean you look at the history, the Eurocopter, Tornado, Typhoon. You look at the names behind said projects, you look at who resides in operating countries. The result is either underwhelming or outright catastrophic. Not stating that any of aforementioned vehicles are bad, just saying that they could’ve been much better if certain people locked in. Anyways, I blame the french.

Anyway german T4 EF will be peak

Looking at certain recent US, UK or Australian procurements id say its just a procurment problem democracies generally have in times of peace and not a uniquely european cooperation problem.

You see more than I do. Looks far from beering finished and going live…

While this spotted T4 is just rolling out of the final assembly plant. Its should be with Luftwaffe now.

Your examples look more like the IPA planes, rather then “mass” produced service ones.
