What we will have in the future for Japanese CAS if Gaijin still refuse to drop R2Y2's BR?

I wonder if what the Japanese will have in the future for CAS? From 6.3-8.0 is almost empty, F84G/kIkka is not enough, and their BR is not suitable for 6.7/7.3. Considering that these are the only lineups, and some of the ASEAN nations will be added as sub TT, it is time to add some good CAS for Japan or at least drop R2Y2 from 8.0 to 7.3 in GRB

and just give up on anyone who didnt get the r2y2 or what?

R2Y2 v1 might back in the future, I guess someone will find something to prove it is not 100% fake

its unlikely that it will ever come back as it is in game, possibly a new version but unlikely even then

Not sure what exactly, but at least we need to expect something for Japanese CAS around 6.7-7.3

There’s a couple options

*XT-4 was seen once with a .50cal gunpod in the centerline pylon, and it was proposed to also be able to serve as an attacker

The A7M2, and J7W1 are pretty decent CAS/Anti-CAS, and the Kikka is good enough now that they removed the infamous practice round. I’ve used the A7M2, before the adjusted the Kikka FM and AP rounds, but I’ve seen the J7W1 in action and it’s a death machine top down against most tanks.

I’m fortunate enough to have the R2Y2s, but choose the F86 due to it’s better speed and roll rate when playing 8.3.

Looks like their loadouts are pretty bad. I got more from ASEAN.

J7W1 is too easy to be captured by fighters and SPAA when it is trying to CAS, and when it is 6.7, there are lots of targets hard to kill, such as tiger 2 or T34/T29s, and also it can’t get any damage, even just hit by 50cal, it will lose control when try to pull up

If you’re struggling with the Kikka, you’ll struggle with the R2Y2s as well.
F-84G you can bring 2 bombs.
And there are options posted after the start of this for the sub-trees.

Kikka is totally different from R2Y2; suppose R2Y2 at 7.3, then at least I won’t struggle in only 100 rounds. If you want to make them the same, then we have nothing to discuss.

F84G is 7.7, I won’t try to take a CAS and then have to deal with T58 or tons of radar SPAAs.

How long does Gaijin remember to add low-tier vehicles for those sub-tt?

problem with these and a problem most people dont want to talk about.

theyre going to be a balancing nightmare. their firepower across the board generally consists of a single internal gun (generally a 50cal) with 2 to 4 external 50cals, meaning their firepower would be that of a 5.0 plane, but their performance would normally force them into 7.0 and above, or in the case of the t-4 it gets access to IR missiles, meaning it requires a br of 8.0, while having firepower that cant compete.

it would be like the f104 if it had a russian gun, no matter where you place it, its gonna be bad, either for the pilot who is going to struggle get kills if its at a br where it airframe belongs, or its going to be at a br where others struggles because there is a plane they physically cant fight.

though funny enough, their ground ordnance is never an issue due to average it all is.

Excluding weapons in the name of balance is not a rare thing for gaijin to do. We saw the same with F-1 and AIM-9Ls.

We also have examples of this, the Strikemaster and MB-326B sit well below the BRs they would otherwise “deserve” due to bad air-to-air armaments. But unlike them these will have average to bad A2G on top of that. So I see a high chance of T-1, XT-4, and T-33 going below 7.0.
Vampire T.55 still retains two 20mm cannons (second seat being installed requires the removal of two) so it will likely be 7.3 or 7.7.

*XT-4 being this low is dependent on not having ballistic computers

@Chocolate_Pasta
Glad you and I are on the same page about the differences between Kikka and R2Y2.
And that’s why R2Y2 won’t move down without other aircraft moving down across all tech trees.

So we wait.
Even MB326K is slowly moving up to 8.0, and it’s only marginally better than F-84G; and if those two can be above GRB 7.3, so can R2Y2.

Cause that’s what the balance is for these aircraft: Their abilities of anti-CAS and CAS combined to justify BRs; usually okay decisions, but sometimes funnily weird decisions.

I bring Kikka in my 7.3 lineup. Minimum fuel usually runs out before the bomb + 100 rounds, and I’m just spamming sorties if I spawn it.
I think the only thing that’d replace it as a reasonable 7.3 or less option would be… something with 4 bombs of 750 pounds or more, or something with 2 bombs and 30mm DEFA-like guns.

A37 Dragonfly might fit that if it can bring 4 or more 750s.
Otherwise it’s bringing something from a balanced BR to make OP for 7.3 where the effective ranges for SPAA is already <1.5km.

I’m sad that you still don’t know why R2Y2 is at 8.0. To keep it at 8.0, and then find any kind of reasons to explain it, sounds like a witch hunt isn’t it?

Indeed, there are lots of aircraft that need to move down, not only R2Y2, and also not in ARB, we do have see IL28s and B57s already move from 8.0 to 7.3, and I give in on this so just ask to move the R2Y2 from 8.0 to 7.3, but that doesn’t mean it should be at 8.0 in ARB. Kikka in ARB is good, but not in GRB because in GRB we usually have to dogfight and hard to find enough time to keep the speed.

MB326K is much better than R2Y2 so that’s why It can move to 8.0, not only as CAS but also as CAP. MB326K got much better loadouts, so moving to 7.7 is acceptable, maybe one day it will move to 8.0, because it is 100% much better than Vampire or some dogfighters, and don’t forget that just reduced over 400kg of weight.

The reason I chose A37 is not for its bombs, but for the Zuni rockets, which is the only thing that could fairly against thos cold war SPAAs or full armor protected SPAAs, for most of CAS, the best range to drop bombs and rokects is close to 500m, unless we got some CCIP or CCRP.

But still, the only thing I can have in 7.3 to against CAS is the TYPE99 SPG, it is pretty good I must say, and I would like to trust that instead of using Kikka
