LOL what does this have to do with ODL ground battles?
thats why i do that
Have you ever just considered not playing ground battles? It doesn’t seem like you are much interested in them…
Now I don’t even bother anymore if I see that my team has vanished and I’m dead, I simply leave and play an other nation while my crew is unlocked again. 10.7 has been a nightmare since the addition of the BMPT
Oh, I one death leave really if I just feel like it. I did something stupid at the start of the match and don’t want to deal with this map anymore? I’m out. I’m trying to play a specific vehicle like the Tu-95, but I just died and I REALLY don’t want to bring myself up back to the front of the map or something stupid like that? I’ll leave in a heartbeat, no questions asked. I’ll do it just to get different maps. Out of everything in the game, it’s actually the most fun thing I ever do; I love one-death leaving. It’s absolutely superb.
cuz i play grb and spawn into a plane just to get killed by a friendly bradley
I try not to, but if my tank doesn’t have a suitable lineup, then I don’t bring any. For example, I am playing on IS-6 and don’t have lineup. Spawning in a ZiS-30/T-34-57 will inevitably lead to me dying while contributing nothing to the team. That will cost my team more points from my death than me simply leavin.
You know what, I get it now. If people are on our spawns by the time my first spawn is done, or people are firing on spawn within 30s-1m, I just leave now. Not my problem the maps are designed that way.
Now I just wish they lifted the crew lock.
The crew lock thing is funny. You do an ODL and the game gives you another one haha. I’ve gotten to the point where I’ve had tanks locked in up to 4 games in a row.
1: Faster grind. Why bring in a full line up when I am trying to grind a specific vehicle.
2: pad stats. Why bring in a full line up when I am trying to pad my stats. Unfortunately the missus and my brother are bad at the game, so while they use my Xbox to play War Thunder, I also try to help them grind.
3: terrible maps. Why waste my time on a map I hate. “But but play it out!” No, play it where it lies is something you do in golf. Why would I waste my time playing a Russian tank on a hilly map, or playing a sniper tank on a CQC map like Rhine.
4: Air RB. You can’t spawn in multiple times.
after reading the whole thread, i think you guys should stick to top tier so that i can enjoy cold war and ww2
If I could make a historically accurate lineup for Vietnam War, sure. Unfortunately, Gaijin thinks the M48 belongs at 7.7, while the Phantoms belong at the same BR as A-10
Most of the time i 1DL i have been either playing the entire match and am the only one left in my team, or my team gets so shit rolled the first 5 minutes of a match that it isnt worth respawning to be spawncamped the next 30 minutes.
As it is not sanctioned, and to stop daily frustration, I create a preset with single tank only. No more 1DL problem, as I myself am one of them. No more struggle.
People don’t wanna hear this but need to: 1DL needs to be removed for the health of GRB as a whole.
Why? Because its corrosive to everything, it triggers a domino effect because it makes the game worse and more 1 sided for the remaining players, further encouraging them to just dip and leave while also eroding chances to gain rewards and have fair games for the enemy team. You can’t have a nuanced discussion about GRB without accounting for just how much 1DL swings the balance and the recent BMPT discussion is heavily and negatively influenced by this more than any self-serving viewpoint ever could.
It’s no surprise that the most aggressive and spawncamp capable weapons dramatically shape the meta every single time they become even modestly effective. You see this any weapon that can be used aggressively: BMPT, T series(designed for offense btw), undertiered helo era, KH-38/FnF Massacres, etc. There is no better way to secure a win ingame than simply demoralizing and spawncamping the enemy team. Once momentum is gained its rarely not a case of blatant incompetence it’s lost. If the poll has any validity this strategy is effective on ~80% of players and the effects of 1DL undoubtedly cover 100% of players(including those who don’t even play but simply partake in discussion). If you disagree I implore to you examine older gameplay examples mentioned here and your own match replays as examples of this.
This is the only consistent gameplay archetype I’ve noticed in my 10+ years of GRB. Bee it 1 shot HVAR spam back in the day, 1DL premium waves, FnF, W+M1 tanks, etc. it all leads back to the same silly gameplay trend of people checking out and players naturally checking in for the farm.
The only solution is to remove 1DL at its very roots and start recognizing it’s destructive effects on the gamemode and discussion as a whole instead of chasing repetitive and politically-charged topics that lead nowhere.
The worst roots of this issue:
- Cramped and linear maps that grant extreme advantages to whoever makes large gains by denying flanking opportunities and providing camping spots instead.
- How pitifully easy it is to gain fire control over spawn and rear line positions
- The horrendous lack of rear-line positions on many maps
- Static spawnpoints visible to the entire match and how it makes them so easily camped and used for easy locating of targets
- Heniously imbalanced day 1 implementations(see: PUMA at 8.3, HVAR 1shots, BMPT, farmer vehicles, etc.)
Players should have more fair opportunities and better rewards for staying in the game and stiffer punishments for consistently 1DL’ing. The former is absolutely critical to at all justifying the latter which validly is destructive gameplay in the same way teamkilling is; punishment is well founded as a final deterrent for players provably and consistently 1DL’ing.
Until this issue is properly identified and addressed(see above) we are simply playing wack-a-mole with inevitable gameplay imbalances and/or flavor of the month while failing to address the root compounding issue.
In your long post you basically you admitted Gaijin is the reason for ODL. Blaming the players is silly.
Adding incentives to stay is a productive suggestion.
Trying to punish players more is not. All this would promote is creative ways to skirt any prop[osed rule.
The former is absolutely critical to at all justifying the latter
Like I said, there isn’t any point is punishing players more alone but also to an extent it is their fault. People don’t just leave because it’s unfair but also for some pretty petty reasons like attempting to force their games to be a always downtiers by simply skirting games. I don’t think these players going to stop or be satisfied even if Gaijin fixed every single issue I listed at par excellence efficiency.
Remember this is War Thunder where people can and will cherry pick ground realistic gameplay down to ground arcade because they hate the gamemode as a whole and only want to grind for their dads best tank he used when he served in their best countries best army. Okay I embelished that story a little but I think you get the point lol.
I literally started doing 2 death leaving since I am grinding the last two abrams mods in the tech tree before the next update.
And uh, I gotta say… kinda feels less bad that fighting against my own frustration because the algorithm gaijin put me in has screwed me for the 10th time and has russia pushing spawn in under 5 minutes.
Feels better leaving tbh. Like… dunno why I held in there for so long not doing it.
Yeah, I gotta say, if half my team has left the match in the first five minutes… I’m gone too.
After two weeks of going out early, it is much better than staying in with my full 6 crews/tanks setup.
In/Out works fast, if it goes well, you gain, if not, no pain, just jump into a new battle. Simple.
The reasoning? Gajin made it that way. I did not.
