What is your banned map and why?

There are so many, but you actually can only ban one of them. For me it’s the City of Sweden rn, but there are plenty of wich i’ll bail out immediately, especially if it’s one of those cramped CQB layouts & variants.

Playing GRB 9.0-11.7 only btw.

Carpathians

I had this map banned since 2020. A few months ago I was like “Hey, maybe its not that bad now”, I unbanned it and the first match was on Carpathians. I had the worst time of my life. Instantly banned it again.

It used to be Vietnam.

Currently, I have Alaska banned, I can’t stomach more CQC urban madness or small maps in general with American Desert and Rhine as the only 2 good urban maps.

Sweden, without a doubt, though I would probably ban half the maps if I could. I hate the CQB maps.

Each to their own buy it would be a pretty sad game if all the maps were the same.
I don’t get why people have no tolerance for big open maps, CQB maps and those in between. Why go against the diversity here?

I can accept in a town you have to play a different way, what is wrong with that? Adapting to the various maps is part of what I enjoy. Only thing I would say is don’t play above 6-7 BR.

I would imagine top tier needs space to use armor and speed. Trouble is the kids with their "Are we there yet? " attitude who can’t get over having to respawn and drive a distance to get into battle.

The big issue seems to be destroying maps one half of the player base likes in order to appease the other half.

I’m still trying to understand why I like some maps and do well and yet some infuriate me and i cant get a game on them.

I have worked Carpathians out and always get kills but Ash River is a mystery, yet I used to do really well on it creeping up the side at height. Now I get nothing there. Not sure what changed.

From the comments I read it seems to be a real crime to give later tiers the same maps as the lower ones. No wonder Gaijin is getting such mixed feed back.

What enjoyment is there driving around WW2 Normandy in an Abrams anyway? How historically ignorant do you have to be to accept at as an immersive game? As bad as driving around 80S Alaska in a Tiger E.

Try and sell that to your friends as a good idea, most will just laugh. “Why the F**k is that WW2 tank driving through 80s USA and firing at a 70s South African scout car?”

What can I say in response?

I do agree and im sure with enough time and effort I would learn the maps well enough to be able to adapt. But to be honest. Ground is my least favourite gamemode currently.

I spend most of my time in Air Sim and after than I quite enjoy naval. I rarely can stand more than a few matches of ground before I go back to the other 2.

Perhaps I do also shoot myself in the foot only playing Britian, and I also have a preference for top tier (so I can make use of the Planes and more importantly helis that I actually want to be using) and so the Challenger 2 is just not built for CQB and a lot more fun on larger maps.

But its also one of the pace. I like the slow nature of Air Sim, the fact that sometime I might be flying for quite a while before even finding a target, not too mention attacking it. Same for naval, I really enjoy EC becasue of the much steadier pace. CQB is just too… fast. I like some tactics, some thought and all round slower gameplay style. (none of which can be found in GRB on any map, its just designed to be as quick and short as possible. god i really want an EC ground gamemode)

But for now, I’ll ban the map I have never had fun on. I do hope we get additional bans at some point. there is a few others I would quite like to remove as well. But I barely play Ground these days. Its just not a fun gamemode in my opinion and with improvements coming to other modes, like ASB, I just have no reason really to care about Ground. Maybe if/when the Challenger 2 gets better. I might pick it up again. But I do wish they just stopped with making every map, CQB.

I am beginning to find it less and less interesting as well. A fast-paced kids game made to appease the increasingly simple masses. I did feel at one point War Thunder had it all and appealed to kids and adults alike, but it has blown it and has clearly picked a side and a new pathway. I think myself and game will go our separate ways soon.

Yeah, I took a few months off in 2023 because i was fed up of the air situation for Britian. If it goes downhill again this year, I will do the same again. But for the most part, I think im just going to go back to considering Ground as a non-existant part of the game, and advocate for improvements to the other modes. Would love to finally get a decent Heli mode where I didnt have to play a tank first

I imagine that would need to be and urban map like Berlin? I can only think of one occasion where there was a Heli vs Heli confrontation. The game might be quite a fantasy effort and maybe play out like the old game armoured core where you popped up and fired then his again. Could be interesting but very map dependent I would imagine. I am sure Gaijin would just throw you out into Fire Arc or Mozdoc and let you get on with it.

They just need to put together an Heli EC gamemode that took longer than 5 minutes. (my god its buggy)

Campania. Too many entrances and exits to the city, so you’ll never know where you’re getting spawncamped from until you’re dead.

Berlin. Every time I got that map, without fail, it was always south side.

mountain Ridge, China a very annoying map, the only thing that might be good about is, if you are in a f-111 or a B-29 going to the side and then aline your bomb site and then let it rip

I’m pretty sure it’s still around, at least at the higher tiers. I played it a week ago.

I stand corrected if that is the case ,thanks

If I had a premium account to ban a map, for older maps, Sversk-13 (winter), that’s pretty obvious, you can’t see anything from the whipping snow without God-like eyesight or thermals. Newer maps, 100% Flanders, I don’t really know why, it’s just a horrible map. Only newer one I can think of is the Gold Mine, it’s just a mid map in every aspect.

I wish they would lose the airship on Flanders. Once the enemy has taken the Airship Cap you are giving up a life to go near it. So sick of getting killed by an enemy I can’t even see even though I know they are there. It just fails to work in the game.

I also think you are too vulnerable crossing the road that runs across the whole map.

I hate Gaijin altering maps but Flanders is a new one, which I did quite like but now I just find myself getting stuck while playing and not knowing how or where to advance without getting killed. I know I will if I move, and mostly I do. I cant move without getting hit and I cant physically see what is hitting me, I just know that moving will invite death (not literally),so I do find it frustrating.

Normandy because it’s either streetfighting or spawncamping with little in-between

would be Normandy, Alaska, Sweden, Abandoned Town, Abandoned Factory, Fulda, Rhine, Breslau, Finland, Fire Arc, Port Novo, Ardennes, Hurtgen, American Desert, Aral Sea, Spaceport, Poland, Seversk and the castrated version of Maginot but hey ho only one ban

You hate them all ? :)

I like Sinai, Red Desert and Maginot
I can tolerate Cargo Port, Sun City, Middle East and Mozdok
