Seeing as the M829A2 has almost a full what 70 pen more than the CR2 L27A1, Pen makes a huge difference for shots that are unaimed / snap shotting.
The angle pen is another story as well having nearly 40 more angle pen is noticeably different at those RBs.
The reason I never got it man, as much as i wanted to get the canadian leopard it seemed rather pointless to me seeing as I had teh 2PL and 2A5, now the 2PL has DM53 it really is pointless.
Really? it only gets M900 IRl?
Pretty much why it was cancelled no? ended up being virtually the same weight but worse in most ways than the Abrams.
To be fair right now no tree has a 2A7 / 122 counterpart.
The issue is though the M1A2s are still leaps and bounds a head of every other top tier MBT.
Speaking from experience with them tbh, they have a great combination only lacking somewhat in hull protection.
They very much are point and go tanks, just people have no idea how to play tanks which require even a modicum of thought.
Abrams are my most used top tiers, and i very much am an average player.
XM885 needs its buff though either give it 372mm of pen or 430mm.
The gun fired a variety of ammunition, including armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot (APFSDS), high explosive (HE), high explosive proximity (HE-P), and anti-aircraft multi-flechette. The ammunition used fiberglass casings which were originally developed for use with the Army’s 60 mm automatic cannon. The APFSDS round, a depleted uranium long rod projectile, was initially noted to have performance on par with the 105 mm round M774 used on the M1 Abrams. This was deemed insufficient and led to an ammunition development initiative called Delta 3. The gun breech was lengthened by three inches as part of Delta 3, allowing for a longer case and boosting muzzle velocity from 4,800 fps (1,463 m/s) to 5,300 fps (1,615 m/s). The Delta 3 round was designated XM885.
Delta 3 was followed by another initiative called Delta 6. Delta 6 could penetrate roughly 16.9 inches (430 mm) of rolled homogenous steel armor, though this too was deemed insufficient. Two 90 mm guns were developed and tested by Ares to address this lack of potency, but the Army would ultimately select conventionally loaded 105 mm guns for future light vehicles.
Just give it its correct penetration.
“The APFSDS round, a depleted uranium long rod projectile, was initially noted to have performance on par with the 105 mm round M774 used on the M1 Abrams.” 372mm of pen.
He is right though, the US has far too many top tier tanks to get a 2A7/122 counterpart. Sweden having 3 122s is the problem, its insanely stupid.
US has:
M1A1 HC
M1A2
M1A2 SEP
M1A2 SEP V2
M1A1 AIM
M1A1 CB
M1A1 CB (SM)
And they don’t lack any supporting vehicles, they have the best top tier light tank (HSTV-L), a meta heli (AH-64E), a good SPAA in the CLAWS, and pretty decent CASCraft.
And I can’t really get any other CAS plane bc I suck at ARB with Missiles and my attacker and bomber line is at rank 4 and Naval and F15 line is at rank 6 “getting F100 soon”.
That doesn’t matter since none of them are 2a7/122 counterparts lol and are all basically the same tank. That’s like saying we shouldn’t add a Rafale counterpart because there are too many F-15s in the US tree.
When compared to the other two 12.0 pack premiums:
abrams outreloads it, has better pen, arguably better armor and similiar mobility.
T-80U-E1 has much better armor. And, sure, it has worse sabot but its not like it takes much to pen NATO tank hulls these days
prolly bunch of other differences like thermals and smoke pops i cant name from top of my bead as im not at PC right now.
But allright, even if abrams is better and T-80 arguably has some advantages over it, it wouldnt be that big of a problem, someone has to pull the short end of the stick eventually.
But then you look at the 12.0 german lineup and realize the other 12.0 vehicle you can put to your lineup is the other premium 2A4M.
So whats there left to do? Move it down?
Eehhhh, with chally 2s and Arietes being there…
Id like to see it bumped up to 12.3 while recieving better shell.
