Earlier this year, while Sinai was off the rotation, I kept track of maps for a while because I kept getting swamped with what I didn’t want.
On 17/1 I queued 31 times, with the following spread:
- Ardennes: 12
- Japan: 5
- Mozdok: 4
- Maginot: 10
- Kursk: 0
9/2 was hilarious. 24 times in the queue, and…
- Ardennes: 3
- Japan: 13
- Mozdok: 3
- Maginot: 3
- Kursk: 2
I used to be ok with Japan, but it was pushed so hard that I can barely stand it any longer. In my personal opinion the map rotation mechanism is in dire need of fixing because calling the state it’s in “functional” would be stretching things extremely far.
Since the devs refuse to include map filtering for Ground Assault, the only way that has a chance of breaking the “oh look, it’s Sinai/Ardennes/Japan again” cycle is to wait. However, there’s no guarantee for anything. I’ve managed to get a different map sometimes after 15 extra minutes (plus the standard 9-minute crew lock), sometimes after an hour, and sometimes I got the same map again after a three-hour break.
@QTip_44 : The devs also need to stop doing workovers with the maps, and doing undocumented changes. Workover for Sinai, map became complete crap (as opposed to just being bad before). Workover for Ardennes, the map is next to unplayable. Undocumented changes, the last one I noticed was on Kursk, the second earthworks from the south has been moved backwards and the ground where it used to be raised a bit. Nothing about it in the change logs. More of those can be spotted on Maginot, where bot tanks keep running into invisible obstacles in places changing from update to update. That’s also the only one which doesn’t bother me because it makes winning on Maginot easier, the base doesn’t get overrun all the time.
Oh, and then there is Mozdok, where the southwest spawn was relocated because every now and then a tank drove up the vertical sides of the bridge. They could have removed the bridge since the bots don’t use it anyway, but instead they moved the whole spawn, and now the bot tanks are driving over various rock placements and the bridge almost every time the spawn is populated. Have a ticket open for three months now, but of course it’s being ignored. Probably much more important to fix misplaced pixels in aircraft instruments.
