The nr30 with 60 rounds and a low velocity is pretty sad
Fortunately it’s okay at shooting slow A10s, but I guess that’s about it
The Colt 20mm MK 11 MOD 5 cannon pod on the British and American naval F-4J/S Phantom should also get a shout-out. They have a pretty fast firing rate of 4000 RPM but have terrible dispersion spray and damage output than compared to the M61A1 Vulcan on most other 10.0+ BR jets.
I love the sound of BK27. Regardless of its performance. It sounds clean and crisp.
Worst gun… I’d say ADEN. I can play better with NR30 most of the times. It has better damage and seems more accurate, while having less firing rate and muzzle velocity being on par…
DEFA 552A is a strong contender in being as bad.
GSh-23-2 , while many people dislike it and i get why, the fire rate saves it… if you connect it will be enough shells. But it needs very specific aiming, more lead than the others ,thing that is not optimal.
But yeah, ADEN is the worst imho…
Aden/Defa for me have easy use (through years of using these guns, they have been present in jet gameplay for 7-8+ years) as well as their nuke damage.
Yah the bk27 felt like shooting toothpicks when I used it last
Aden 25 slaps, i still have no idea where the rounds are going and would love a training round, but when it connects its always cripples

Who needs tracers, they are just laser canons. Im not even sure they have ballistic drop :D

ive used it ALOT on the AlphaJet TH, its very accurate and punches like the 23mm GSH on the mig23, but its lower firerate and better accuracy. sometimes it leaves alot to be desired but its never too awful.
DEFA is the worst on the list by far. Theyre always abysmal beyond 0.5km and barrel stuffing seems to be the only way i get them to connect (Super Etendard/Jaguar E gameplay)
its always overleading them, im so used to ADENS 30 being like chucking rocks out the canopy im always putting the nose way far ahead. Got some tasty T.10 kills against F/A-18A with them
I’m saying the GSH-23, but I haven’t used all of them. and some I do worse with but have FAR less practice with like the BK-27… I would put that as a close 2nd worst due to the low placement and lack of practice with it
For me:
lack of trigger time and low slung gun placement combined with an air frame that is less agile and slower than what I’m used to at those BRs (I’m usually is a Saber or Mig-17 at 9.0ish) combined with the high ROF and low ammo pool… so basically I’m not used to it yet and its funnier to take the Alpha jet TH and just slap them in the face with an AIM-9P-4 then learn to use the gun… people still just seem to lock up in shock when they see a missile come off an alpha jet… especially in a head on.
I see, try them on the Tornado or the Gripen, those are amazing gun platforms for the BK27, I haven’t personally ever used the Alpha Jet aha
M39 on the F-5 feels like such crap to use. I’d take a 30mm NR30 (Su-22) any day.

I think its a matter of perspective. Unlike the guns found on a lot of US jets, you cant spray ahead of the target and then walk the target into the stream of fire.
You need to be quite accurate, and some of the shells are pretty poor, but others are pretty good
I despise Gsh-23-2 and Type-23K cannons for ‘spit level’ firing distance paired with lackluster damage makes these cannons the worst by far. Even DEFA/ADEN’s are not that bad in comparison with these two.

That’s interesting, I suppose I’m used to concentrating my fire from playing Japan and stuff, but I’ve never had any issues with it at all. I see what you mean about walking the target into it, but that’s kinda a stupid thing to do
Yeah it is. I personally dont have much issue wiht the 27mm, though I also find myself very rarely using it in SB on the GR4 or even the Typhoon.
After years of Tornado. My default is not the gun :D
I mean I don’t play jet SB much at all, I am much more into prop SB, but whenever playing ARB with the Tornado or Gripen I find it just a point and click adventure lolll
Its funny with the new Tornado FM dogfighting in the GR4. Ive gotten a few gunkills against F-16s :D
