What you can do is pretty limited. If you notch, he’ll spam you to death. Its like an ET launched from above you, except you cant pull into it to flare it.
Maybe risk multipathing it or taking him down with you by launching some up.
If its truly top down, then MP likely wont work. Because even if you are MP-ing the missile, it will likely still hit you on the way. Pretty much the only defence is to go near cold if not completely cold and dump a load of chaff

I need to dodge the last F-15 standing after I kill the enemy team the only position I don’t know how to counter is when they’ve above me cause notching isn’t just getting perpendicular unless I need to pull a diagonal which if I have to do I will but it’s not easy.
It really depends on what you are in. Something like the Gripen I’d say fire off an ARH at whatever attacked you and then go cold, that way you put them on the defensive. If you are in something far less nimble like a Tornado F3 then skipped straight to the next step.
Turn completely away from whatever fired at you, hug the deck and dump a load of chaff. That way you can employ both Chaff and MP to defend against the incoming missile. Of course this does leave you exposed to an IR missile up the ass. So keep an eye out for that F-15 or whatever closing in from behind.
you cant counter a fox 3 from above unless you’re able to turn so hard your pilot becomes a puree in the cockpit. best hope is to get the lock first, fire first and hide behind a mountain
Yeah, that is the key part of ARH vs ARH combat. If you are hard defending, you’ve probably already made a mistake
