the example i used was from 10km I dont know if that’s too far for a launch, but at that range they normally dont connect
Usually, you can’t kinematically evade them by going straight at them and turning last second. You either run away and deplete their energy or notch.
Do you have the replay so we can take a look?
So… you’re upset at one of the things delta-canard planes are good at (high manoeuvrability at speed)? Wut lol. It’s an F-15E, not light in the slightest, has the thrust to actually make it go fast in a straight line and will obviously struggle to turn at Mach 1.6+… what’s to misunderstand here?
The F-15E while a strong aircraft (yes, it is still strong) wasn’t meant to just go into theatre and sling off AMRAAMs. It can, but that wasn’t what it was made to do, hence the large selection of bombs and AGMs you have in the loadout. If an F-15 with decent manoeuvrability is what you wanted, the F-15C is a better (albeit slightly underpowered) choice.
Also, if you’re in the F-15E… a wise choice would be to not get within 10 km of a Rafale if you don’t already have an AMRAAM out on them. You’re just asking to get shot down at that point
From my experience, the F-15E’s radar works just fine in BVR. If you want consistent tracking performance in TWS, I recommend using the narrowest scan setting and just focus on 1-2 people in BVR instead of wasting your missiles and being forced to go back to rearm (at which point your team either evaporates leaving you to deal with the rest of enemy team hyper focusing on you or your team basically wipes the enemy team).
The HMD locking issue is not specific to the F-15E, it happens elsewhere too (even on the Su-30SM and Rafale, both of which you don’t have).
This works against the R-77-1 believe it or not. Because it’s capable of pulling more than your AMRAAM it also bleeds energy more if the target starts to turn in either direction. For example, F-pole manoeuvres work better at distance against missiles with high G overloads because they pull harder. Likewise, it wouldn’t really be as effective on an AMRAAM because it doesn’t pull that hard. The PESA on the Su-30SM pales in comparison to the AESA on the Rafale (which is basically a mini-AWACS on its own) and really is only a better AN/APG-70 in target detection and tracking (it doesn’t have a substantial elevation scan advantage over normal PD radars).
Checks out. AMRAAMs don’t pull hard (or should I say, start pulling decently) until they’ve built up speed, similar to Sparrows in that regard. Delta canards can quickly go into the notch and chaff off missiles faster than other jets. It’s a lot easier in the Rafale/Eurofighter (not sure if J-10 has it too) because of 360 degree MAW and RWR so you can tell just about when you’re into the notch. Anything fired within 10 km is easily evaded in those jets.
Rafale accelerates almost as fast as the f-15 above Mach lol
yeah but how do i download replay
I think it accelerates faster above mach, but has a low wing rip limit
What time was the issue you talked about?
Bringing up stuff that doesn’t matter to the prior conversation. 50G changes quite literally nothing (0%) of long range combat. It also isn’t a measure of the missile’s agility in case you were wondering.
Yeah that doesn’t seem right. Rafale isn’t really meant to go very fast
near the end
Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been very sick
I unlocked F-15I and spaded it and now never want to use it again. I’d rather sling F90s in Iranian F-14 than be an AIM120 slinger. But I’m a ground player, not the next coming of Tom Cruise. Ayit is way more fun, though.
That wasn’t a 10km shot. You shoot at over 30km at low altitude against someone also going at low altitude. That’s a very long range for any missile and incredibly easy to evade by just not heading into the missile. If you were 10km high and your target too, 30km range shots would make more sense.
Then you turned away from that guy you did not kill and you exposed yourself completely to a rear aspect fox3 at altitude, while launching an aim9m to someone outside of decent parameters, while not even leading the missile, and then you got killed by a random pl-12 and if it wasn’t for that missile, that first guy would have killed you with the incoming aim120 in your rear.
I would advise you to fall back to at least early jets and get a hang of the game. Top tier is too chaotic for new players, and it requires a great deal of awareness to have a good time.
30 km shot is crazy. Even at super high altitude, I usually never shoot at more than 25ish km.
Other when doing the 27er unlock and relock last second trick, I launch those at around 40-50 km at 10km alt.
Another reason why I prefer spamming Fakour90 over AIM120. Launch F90 from 60-80KM out and just glide as you guide them in. Easy way to grind air events, that’s for sure.
it wasn’t 30km, maybe you looked at the wrong shot. i vividly remember waiting till i was at 10km to shoot
If I recall correctly, you shot 1 aim120 at over 30km and then you shoot an aim9m to someone out of range and then you died.
If you want me to take a look again, tell me the exact time of the issue.
Justice for F-15
Change the title to past tense.
Everyone has long since learned how to evade AIM-120s, and not just AIM-120s. But that doesn’t make the F-15E irrelevant. Its only drawback, or rather two drawbacks, are its eight AIM-120s and its weak radar. Even with that, it’s still capable of scoring two or three kills. But to do that, you need to learn the radar.
