I was not under sustained fire by multiple ships, I had barely lost any crew.
I lost hull integrity in several minutes with almost no change to my crew and capsized shortly after
Everywhere I look ships are just having their hulls smashed to pieces
I’m surprised more people haven’t mentioned this yet. Naval battles aren’t fun when your whole hull is blacked out after 2 salvos. I hope it’s just a bug.
More likely to be the issue with kill credit system where a ship detonated from fire can be mistakenly credited to a ship firing small shells and landed the last hit
Crew losses and hull integrity are independent of each other - there is a rough correlation of course since you’re getting shot at and damage is being done to both, but there’s nothing particularly odd about 86% crew and a black hull section
Maybe it wasn’t about the crew but more making a point that I was not under catastrophic amounts of fire and being hit by an overwhelming amount of rounds.
One single salvo to the upper deck that did not penetrate the belt or enter the citadel, it destroyed the stacks and set a fire, one compartment gone and the two surrounding red.
Pretty sure all that red says that salvo did penetrate to the engine rooms - maybe through the stacks, which are a point of vulnerability what with being bog open holes in the deck
Look at his heading angle - I play Amagi a lot and I’m pretty sure at this heading angle it is impossible for his opponent to penetrate the engine room. Penetrate through engine room vent is also impossible at such falling angle, especially for German shells. You can also see no damage was done to the outboard fuel tanks and engine modules. After the major update it is very common that a few shells hitting unarmoured area instantly turn the hull section dark red or even black, and if you are under fire from more than one opponent, you usually lose 3 hulls sections in a minute or two.
It is really an unwise choice to rush for cap at this moment because ship hulls are so weak that even bots can vaporise your hull quickly, instead now it encourages ppl to camp at spawn to avoid getting hit repeatedly
tried some cruisers out of curiosity, 24 minutes alive trading blows with multiple cruisers including rainbows from an Atlanta and nothing past yellow hull damage, did verify it does still happen for BB in a match after though.
I want to say this is a bug currently, but it feels intentional. There’s a lot of things in this update they didn’t exactly think through - like the 20km spawns at all BRs for a map, or the minimaps showing islands that don’t exist - so it’s possible it was due to a complete lack of care and testing.
Just for perspective, battleship hulls are ~89% more vulnerable to explosions from last update and are currently ~118% more vulnerable to explosions than cruiser hulls. I could be doing basic division wrong, but that’s what I gather from the multiplier changes.
LOL bug report rejected because the reporter claimed it “takes 3 shots” to lose “un-sinkable” when it’s actually around 3 salvos per compartment with HE… Gaijin needs to hire people that actually apply some common sense to the reports. https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/8Cbn1wo6KZGP
The bug reporting site is pretty much impossible to search without going through pages upon pages
Are there other reports, do the devs know, do they care?
Or is this the future of naval and should I cut my loses now because this is pointless and a waste of time actually trying to play objectives rather than hiding in spawn and hoping others get shot at first
I saw this post in a thread yesterday and remembered i also saw the changes of hull strength modifiers in a changelog (as on the last picture of the linked post) a while ago. But even after an extensive search on the wt page changelogs and changelogs on the forums and datamines i couldn’t find it. Could be it was just for dev server or something, can anyone help? Anyways the increase of this modifiers by 2x and 3 x respectively of damage to hull sections caused by shells and explosions coupled with the explosions of magazines (also secondary ammo) might be whats causing this absolute disappearing of whole hull areas (which ofc are not watertight to each other cause bulkheads were not invented yet in ww2 /s)
BTW what is unsinability even supposed to mean lol? When you have it you can always pump water out and patch holes but suddenly, when 3 or more of an imaginary number of hull sections are somehow turned “black” now all those hull sections are magically connected, all bulkheads opened and your whole ship is taking in water? wtf is this? thats supposed to be realistic? wows health bar is more realistic than that
I am going to stop playing naval, this is absolutely absurd.
I have destroyed BB’s with a HE salvo, and lost my Scharnhorst with a cruiser HE salvo.
Either they fix the values back to what they were a while ago, or I don’t plan to go back.
