What Gaijin needs to do before introduction of post-Treaty capital ships(WIP)

Now the age of old dreadnoughts are quite heading to end in War Thunder naval. As Smin confirmed Rank VI capital ships will comes to every nation during update ‘Dance of Dragons’ and subsequent update, there are not much candidate for pre-Treaty capital ships left for each nations. But careless addition of those ships in current War Thunder Naval would cause serious problem for those ships, intriguing problem for both players and Gaijin. The list of aspect to considers are like below:

※ Do note that this thread is for realistic battle only, not including arcade. I’m 99% realistic player, only playing arcade for 1.0~2.0 coastal. Do make your own thread if you want to say ‘but in arcade, ~’

1. Mandatory deepest draft or Deep Water Line(DWL) for every ships


Even Yamato will expose some of it’s magazine around waterline in her LWL. Not to mention USA and French ships.

Which already causing problem for existing ships, but will be even more problematic for post-Treaty capital ships. Except for Great Britain, every post-Treaty fast battleships have part of magazine exposed above waterline unless they got deepest draft. Even with deepest draft they would have magazine just below the waterline, but it is much better than part of it exposed above waterline.

2. Change of hull destruction model


Most of current hull destruction model composed of every hull like this Kronshtadt showing, making it vulnerable to high explosvie firing above main belt level, which doesn’t make any influence on hull buoyancy irl.


What hull destruction model should be changed, is that only damage done on main belt level should affect it’s buoyancy. We already have such kind of hull destruction model in-game, only exclusively to Kommuna, Marat and Izmail)

Another already problematic feature, but will be even more problematic in the future. Current hull destruction model mostly incldue entire ‘hull’ of ships. Which is not historical, and makes it very susceptible to HE. This is more severe to standard battleships than other capital ships with casemate armor and bow armor, as penetration of shell matters for hull destruction.

And, incoming post-Treaty capital ships are All-Or-Nothing(AON) or semi AON like those standard battleships. Those ships, and ships already implemented in game should have their hull destruction model same as Kommuna/Marat/Izmail. This will prevent the future of using braindead HE as main anti-battleship method by making hole in hull and kill it with unstoppable sinking.

3. Change of effect caused by direct hit on shell room

Necessary for USA/JPN and USSR capital ships. USN fast battleships have all their shells in barbette, Japanese Yamato has shells in barbette and above-water shell room, and Project 23(aka Sovetsky Soyuz) has all shells in above-water shell room. Considering basic feature of shell(small explosive contained in heavy and thick metal cover), they should not be detonated all at once, just causing fire and percentage loss of shell on that shell room.

4. Decompression of Battle Rating

Always discussed. Unlike arcade, current CAS of naval realistic is actually weak compared to players and AI’s AA capability, so no problem for ships to be decompressed to 8.0+

I agree with this post.

I finally edit some of context I wrote earlier. There could be more context to fill in, but I’m short of ideas. Help me with good, productive ideas guys.
