What do do against the XP 50

Yes I perfectly understand this. I almost always side-climb to gain altitude, even though many times this results in nothing to bomb when the fighters that could be protecting me or taking out enemy attack aircraft instead just attack ground units. I’ve been in some matches where the battle was pretty much over because faster team-mates ended the battle before I was in position to drop.

That’s beside the point.

The main point is - the faster and more maneuverable opponent gets to decide where and when the encounter will take place. There are smart players using fast-climbing interceptors that can prevent bombers from doing their job.

IMO bombers need to start at a even higher altitude, and their gunners need to start defending at a greater range than they currently are.

At least in WWII, bomber formations defended themselves - you never saw a single bomber making attempt at bombing bases. Of course we’d never get enough co-operation in War Thunder to do that. Hence needed changes.

This is why I no longer play Bombers or RB…

I used to play RB in a bomber all the time, side climb and line up on 2 bases, bomb the bases and often that was the key to victory for the team (even though they’d all complain about bombers all the time).

Often when there were more than 2 bombers and I didn’t get to bomb the base, we all converged on the AF, though this rarely led to victory.
