What are your opinions on paper vehicles vs copy paste in small tech trees?

one complete prototype

This feels like an ace combat synopsis, just replace the P1000s with Arsenal birds.

Better than last year’s AF. A boss fight against the ratte sounds fun, the only issue is that most period-accurate guns couldn’t really do jackshit against it save for some massive arty pieces (not featured in game atm). The best chance one would really have would be AShMs, but those weren’t refined very well mid-CW.

Gaijin, plz make a historical sim section, not based at BR and make what you want in other game modes.
90% of peoples want frankentanks, paperplanes and starships, but there are 10% that want to learn history, understand why things were made as they were made.

Not really, so far it seems like a loud minority.

Even this is a mischaracterisation. My impression is rather that we’re all on a spectrum of what we consider acceptable but it’s all rooted in real historical projects that were worked on by historical engineers. I don’t see anybody asking for the made up vehicles one finds in the other game. We all just place the bar in slightly different places when it comes to speculative reconstructions. Since Gaijin itself moves that bar all the time, that’s hardly shocking, tbh.

Then WT is not the game for you.

You could play 2000 RB/SB battles in the Hetzer in War Thunder and still not know that, when buttoned up, it was completely blind on one side! Game ain’t gonna teach you that, because to do so it would have to nuke your situational awareness and it’d be crap to play. Instead, you stay buttoned up and get the same spatial awareness you get with any other ground vehicle in WT, from 1.0 to 12.7.

So much for real historical limitations.

Absolutely agree for all points, but for clarity (and maybe a lil 'tism):

The driver was blind on one side, due to the mantlet being directly to the right of the driver’s port. The gunner could see fine, thanks to their sight being at the top of the TD using dual periscopes.

I think that in the late game, we have to use blueprint vehicles, because there are very few playable vehicles left. For the sake of the game’s longevity, the late game definitely relies on using blueprint vehicles. If we don’t, the game’s lifespan will be greatly reduced, since there will soon be nothing new to introduce given the current update frequency.

Nej. If there aren’t any more vehicles to add, then maybe gaijin will add new gamemodes and focus more on fixxing bugs!

Maybe…
