Its already low profile??What you need gun depression for?Its literally a pancake
“no 30mm”,why the heck should the Obj have a 30m to begin with
APHE better than APDS
Survivability its = as most tanks with low armor
More ammo = bigger weak point to implode
Place that Obj in any position from medium range and it will win most of the times if you shot first
Low profile doesn’t compensate for bad gun depression, it just help a bit.
You still will struggle to get your gun on target even if you are only a slightly steep hill.
Example (Obj 775 instead of 906 – same gun depression of -5 degrees):
Even with Pancake losing ~0.3/0.4m in height, it barely could get gun on target against that Centurion Mk.10 on that small incline.
Now let’s give the Pancake an extra -1 or -2 degrees of gun depression:
I’m comparing it to the Turm III, which is 8.3 (or 8.7 if they finally move it up).
Depends on the situation.
You can kill the Obj 906 by shooting it in the hull pretty much anywhere.
Because of the Turm III’s oscillating turret design (effectively having an armoured turret basket and separator that absorbs spall) , you pretty much have to shoot the left or right portion of the turret, maybe the right portion of the hull.
Thats insanely argueable since if you get way too much ammo youre a walking bomb
What youre saying apply only when you get like less than 10 ammo on the Turm
Some 8.3 tanks. T-55A, M48A2 G, olifant, Magach 6, type 59D, MARS.
There are also tanks like the Italian HVG from the IS-7 event and the Israeli m113 with same gun, given it’s a very bad APFSDS, but it can still penetrate the T58.
Please correct me if I am wrong. But these are the tanks I can remember top of my head.
The T58, is balanced by the fact that most people use the HESH rounds instead of the horrible APHE, that makes it partial to the HEAT slingers like AMX-30/DF105; not saying that HEAT rounds are good or something, but that puts them on a more even ground despite the BR differences.
100% true but you aren’t going pen most things frontally, especially MBTs at 8.7+.
It’s why sabot and APFSDS generally become more important than APHE – though APHE can still be very useful against things from the side.
Kinda. It still has the spall shield regardless of how much ammo you take, so shooting for crew via hull shot may not always work.
~20 Shells in Turm III isn’t that hard to detonate but it’s definitely harder than the maximum of 47 shells you can carry, and which is displayed in protection analysis.
TURM III has no survivality like the DF105/Mardar chassis tanks. Anywhere can be one shot with APHE.
Likewise, even with APDS, it has higher chance than average to be severely disabled (gun breech, autoloader etc) instead of just having commander and gunner killed.
Rare moment i agree with tiger here, why are you shooting turm III in the hull lmao, its turret is full of ammo on one side and have two crews on the other
Well to be fair, I wouldn’t say it’s my strongest point for it being too good for 8.3.
I agree that you can kill it fairly easily if you shoot for the turret (as stated here):
But I can’t say that it hasn’t been frustrating shooting hull shots at the Turms III and not getting any damage from it.
Nope, even Howi most of the time struggles to do such thing, rarely happends with SPGs,why does the T58 have 100% success rate of killing you from it tho?Unknown
