Typical Gaijin, community wanted helis being affected by APDSFS hits, but recieved disabled helis by rifle caliber hits.
From extreme to extreme. But they will fix it sooner or later.

They were, much in the same sense you can shoot any other vehicle and blow it up or hit dead air
The last encounter I had with a Helo rush was 1 shotting an Mi-24 with a Warriors APDS, I hit the tail and it completely exploded
APFSDS does nothing guys
I still remember the time as helis were badly affected by APDSFS hits. Like one hit and your Hind broke into two. Result was that helis were almost impossible to use, MBTs with Laser ranging sniped you just too easily.
I wouldn’t say easy unless it hovers completely still or fly straight, those shots especially at long-range are earned.
the helicopters that needed nerfing was ka50/52, but gaijin went and nerfed all other heli by adding internal module except the ka50 lmao (still missing internal module)
Same happened with CAS jets. Tornados etc. Certain mechanics (like contrails) and powerfull AA systems made them so powerless that its hardly worth the spawn points. Now there’s a secret new set of modules / control lines which make most helis uncontrollable, even when hit by a rifle caible round. But its also always turning black when an HE VT or missile explodes nearby. Better just don’t spawn air anymore. Whats the point of dodgin a missile, when this suicide mechanism gets your chopper uncontrollable anyways.
Imagine your tank has such a suicide box installed, everyone might take out with just near-hits . Then the tank cant be controlled anymore. Like you cant shot or something.
Its a game and games need balance. Paying 650 spawn points for just lol is just a bad mechanic. A cas Tornado with bombs and AP ammo belt even might cost 950 spawn points. Its insane. Then you bring it and get shot down 20 secs later by Pantsir. Helis now go down the same road.
Not to mention the fact that the ones on the KA-52 is wrong, and their position should be about center fuselage or in the nose.
Does not seem to have. Weapons still go inop with even light damage.
Go to the patch note list from 2 days ago, they said they fixed it, guess not though.
US top tier heli (and all others who use AH64 chassis) are now full of these new suicide boxes. One hit and its over more or less. A short MG burst or an explosion nearby … The whole lower half is packed with these suicide boxes. The ru top tier heli (Mi-28) is gifted with alot empty space, still takes a beating when doing rocket pod runs or even survive SAM hits.
Apache should also have composite boron armor, and the Ka-50 should have titanium armor over the cockpit, fuel, and engines. I don’t know about the Mi-28’s armor layout.
Might be not a great thing. Apparently if the model hasn’t been updated with the “suicide boxes”, then you get some RNG chance of losing systems when ever the fuselage takes damage. This seems borne out because even getting yellow damage more often than not made the missiles not work on my Sweeedish Huey.
May the Snail bless your soul, that thing is utter garbage.
Yeah… there is what Gaijin says and then there is what Gaijin does.
I get to do a lot of MEDIVAC cosplay in EC. Its relaxing… until a wave of ZSU-23s pops into existence right under you.
What if you want to do something more engaging than just endlessly rocketing bases?
I’ve been saying this for years. There’s a glimmer of hope for heli players.
I also love the fact that this change did absolutely nothing to fix the real problems with helicopters.
All this internal module BS is not going to affect the helis spamming 16x hellfires/vhickers/spikes at you from 20 km while camping behind a mountain.
All this change did is completely ruin all that very little usefulness that rocket pods had and made early helis with no ATGMs unusable.
And made the module grind even more painful (it was painful already) Thanks Gaijin very cool! :)
