There is no real answer to this question.
There are, for example, so-called meta-lists of vehicles that you should have for the Clan Wars. These are created by the top 20/top 50 clans and requested by them from their members. This means ground vehicles and airplanes in realistic mode. These lists vary slightly between the different clans and also change every time BRs are adjusted or new vehicles come into play. And of course they also include premium vehicles.
These lists are almost always a well-kept secret.
But hardly anyone will take the trouble to create such a list for you and then explain to you in detail why the respective vehicle is meta.

F8U-2 at 10.0, the thing is diabolical. Flares, RWR, Radar and IRST along with 4 AIM-9Ds, the only thing that held it back is wing rip but now it is crazy.
M2KC-S5 at 12.3. It’s an aircraft where all its competitors are 12.7 or 13.0. 2 Magic 2s and 2 530Ds as well as MAWS are really good.
F-104A at 9.3. This thing is wild, Mach 2 with AIM-9Bs capable of facing 8.3 aircraft, you do the math.
Those are just the big 3 there’s a ton more.

The galers F3F is special- in AB it sits .3 below the TT variant.
Bf-109F-4!! It’s my favorite 109 by far… Great maneuverability and enough firepower to do the job…
I also personally really love the XP-55, but it’s a premium, so can’t talk about it 🤷

LA-5FN/Spitfire Mk 24/Sea Fury, you will NOT be disappointed.
P51H5NA, it’s a better Spitfire Griffon at a lower BR by far.
Among the most under-BR’d aircraft in the game if not the most.
Goes toe to toe with first gen jets.

F-14A at 12.3
F-104A/C at 9.3
F-15J(M) at 13.7

There’s a reason I said P51H5NA, as it’s 0.7 BR below where it should be.
Whereas F-14A is balanced, and the rest are 0.3 off at most compared to the aircraft of their BR.
Overall I agree, just a bit of a correction, the F8U-2 only has a search radar. Only the F8E has IRST and a tracking radar.

Those lists arent that big of a secret. Meta for Br 8.7- are all basicly figured out/ nothing changes that much. Toptier is the only thing that changes alot based on balance and new vehicles. Also if anyone ever wants to look up, what is playe you can just look for replays on the offical homepage.

Has 2 good missiles and flares.
Not the fastest nor the best turnfighter, but has great energy retention and guns.
And it is a squadron vehicle, which means you can get it for “free”.
The best plane Germany has at that BR.

Best plane in the game at their br is the Yak-3U. P-39N0, Yak-2 Kabb, P-51H, MiG-15bis, Ayit, F-104A, F-8U and J-7E are very strong non premium aircraft too.
