You are being disingenuous here, as I was talking about the F4 which was able to carry and fire Aim-120s. As I have already shown with photos. It is capable of being upgraded to use them, hell now that news broke about the F14AM we can move into how the Iranian F4s were modified to use russian missiles. Like this one shown firing an R73.
This is War Thunder, not the flight line where we down planes for months of revamps, inspections, etc. So again, the F4 is capable of being updated to use Aim-120s. It could also carry the AGM-88 which I think it should have in game:
Yes and only the F-4F ICE which is the only photo you have shown was upgraded to use them. No other Phantom in game ever received that sort of upgrade nor where they ever considered for that sort of upgrade.
Ok and? sticking an IR missile onto something like a phantom is a lot easier than integrating a fox-3, Iran even put R-60s on Phantoms at some point, and they did similar things to the F-5s they had laying around as well.
why are you even bringing this up to begin with? because unless I missed something there are no Iranian Phantoms in game. (I guess one would make a cool premium or something though)
Yes this is indeed War-Thunder the most game of all time certainly. its very clear that your either being intentionally dense and trolling or actually just delusional.
Repeatedly stating that “The F-4 is capable of being updated to use AIM-120s!” doesn’t magically hide the fact that the only phantom to ever receive such an upgrade was the F-4F ICE in the German tree and that was only after it received a whole new radar, wiring ect to support AIM-120s, No other phantom in game will receive AIM-120s.
If you want to put fantasy load outs on your US F-4E i suggest going and playing Ace Combat or booting up DCS and modifying the F-4Es lua file to carry a load of amraams and go enjoy that if you want it so bad.
or play the German tree, get the F-4F ICE and play that.
While AGM-88 harm would certainly be nice i am inclined to think that we will all have to wait for something like the F-4G for that to ever happen.
1- That IR missile isn’t identifiable, and we don’t have Iranian F-4s in War Thunder.
2- The F-4F ICE is already in War Thunder.
3- That is not an F-15A.
4- That’s not an F-15A/C MSIP II or older.
lol Su-27 is one of the lesser missile buses.
F-4F ICE is even better excluding the airframe.
F-15A is better in every way,
Mirage 20005F and 4000 are obviously superior.
Su-27SM gets closer to F-15 capabilities, but F-15C MSIP II was added so that’s far superior to Su-27SM.
Mig-35 is the F-15C MSIP II equivalent missile bus.
The EX I get, but aren’t the SA and QA just variants of the Strike Eagle?
sure.
The Su-27 gets more missiles overall, the ability to carry more IR missiles (that are better than the AIM-9Li), the ability to carry more radar missiles (although they’re SARH), and gets HMD.
It carries less missiles, does not carry the OP R-27ER, does not have HMD, does not have a >30G IR missile, can only carry four IR missiles, can only carry four SARH missiles.
The Mirage 20005F is fair, but the real contemporary (due to ARH) for comparison would be the Su-27SM.
The 4000 lacks HMD, good SARH missiles, the ability to carry more than two SARH if it carries six IR missiles, and has worse IR missiles.
The F-15C isn’t a missile bus, though. The F-15E is.
No. They inherit the tandem cockpit and strengthened wing from the Strike Eagles, which rates them for 20,000 flight hours. But the true difference between a Strike Eagle and the Advanced Eagle is the flight controls. The former is still hydromechanical with control rods and pulleys throughout the jet. The latter is a move to a true Fly-by-wire system, which is what actually allows for the outboard pylons tonbe used.
We’ve been on this topic before, it’s not as simple as slapping an Aim-120 on a pylon and calling it a day. They had a whole fkn program just to add 120 compatibility and capability to the F-4s in Germany (and another in Japan to add the XAAM-4 to their F-4EJ Kai ADTW, there’s a forum suggestion for it out that you can read up on if you’re interested). It needed a whole new radar as well as updated software and configurations to be able to use said weaponry, there isn’t a single F-4 that could use the Aim-120 during its entire service life, which extended up to the late 1990s, that should say enough about this topic as it is.
Also on the topic of the upgrades to the Iranian jets: the F-14 should have the R-27s at all, and neither should the F-4s, as the program to install and allow for compatibility ultimately failed and the radars and missiles couldn’t really behave with one another, leading to the integration attempt being abandoned. Hopefully gaijin changes it for the sake of historical accuracy, but if they don’t then idc anymore.
Also yes, the respective F-4s that could carry the Agm-88 should get them ingame. Long overdue…
