What about flare dropping

In SB EC I alwas seem to run into the following situation:

I follow someone, radar turned off. They fly straight. I lock Aim-9M onto them, NOT firing. They immediately drop flares as soon as locked on.

I engage in a dogfight, enemy not dropping flares. I lock on with Aim-9M onto them, they drop flares as soon as I lock on, BEFORE I fired the missile.

Due to similar experiences with R-60M, R-73 and basically any other IR guided missile… it makes no sense. From what I know there is no sensor that’d pick up when a IR missile is locked onto them before it’s being fired. And that stuff happens way too often to be just a casual accumulation. Do I miss something here? What’s going on?

i drop flare randomly from time to time saved me many times from enemy i did not know is on my back

Again, it happens way too often that people immediately drop flares when locked on for it being a complete coincidence.

it mostlikely is coincidence you cant know you can report them and gm’s will check but well

Most people will look behind occaisonally, pre flaring missiles is the best strategy so the fact that people do isn’t unusual.
