I greeting the forum audience who have dropped in on this topic, gentlemen developers and moderators!

A major new game update has just been released, and many people’s thoughts are elsewhere.
However.
Right now, on the eve of the Christmas and New Year holidays, I want to ask a question: can we count on the gift of hope?

This isn’t the first time I’ve reflected, directly or indirectly, on the fate of naval legends - in general - and the Russian Navy in particular.
The navies of different countries had their own famous, symbolic and important ships - and so the Russian Imperial Navy had its own in the early twentieth century.
Certainly, the resonant names of great and iconic ships—such as the “Yamato”, “Iowa”, or “Sovetsky Soyuz” — are familiar to many.

But what happened to other, less modern, but truly history-making ships?
Yes, I’m talking again about symbols of the navy’s glory—especially since the name of one of them is identical to the very meaning of the word “Glory.”

Not long ago, our legendary “Aurora” finally made it into the “passed” category - for which we are extremely grateful! - regardless of any nuances or potential gameplay characteristics, it is precisely these legendary ships that keep players dedicated to the idea of a fleet in the game, not those who enter “naval mode” only for specific events.

But the rest of the “suggestions news” section has been completely in no mood to please for many months!
It’s as if there are no more interesting or useful ships left, or they’re simply ignored.

So, what about the old-forum?
Where many ships were already in the “passed” category, but whose status is now being in no hurry to confirm?

Passed suggestions

Perhaps there is an opinion that such ships are not interesting?
But let’s make sure that this is not so!

Illustration: votes for some ironclads

Peresvet

Slava

Emperor Alexander III

Tsesarevich

Do those dozens of votes really mean nothing, especially compared to the others?
But a hundred votes for “Peresvet” seem significantly higher than 36 votes (97%) or 22 votes (100%) cast for some other previously “passed” ships! - and this is even more than the 79 votes (87%) for one notable heavy cruiser, which is also intended for the same Navy and which is among the “passed”.

There’s nothing like that in the game?
But not at all. The “Ikoma” and “Kurama”, which are very similar in characteristics and quite playable, won’t let lie - although they have exclusively their own audience… but - please note - like everything in our game!
ИкомаКурама

So do we have the right to hope for analogue of the “passed” “Mikasa”?
Can we hope for our own equivalent of “mid-tier” ships, not intended for the top tier, just like the “passed” of similar ships from the earlier era?

Many of us have simply given up waiting, but the voices and comments in the threads make it clear that there are many players hungry for Ironclads! - not only Russian, but also English, American, Italian, and French ones!
I even more dare to assert that predreadnought-era ships is interesting not only as part of “IJN”.

So, will we get an answer to the non-rhetorical question? - @Stona_WT @Smin1080p_WT - do we have a chance that the “passed” section will finally be replenished in this category?

Thank you all for your attention! Happy upcoming holidays!

The best naval gift for me would be theoretical RoF for all vessels and not just chosen ones, so I would have 28 s instead of 45 s aced on Littorio class, almost as on “iconic” Sovetsky Soyuz.
Although yeah, late pre-dreadnoughts and armored cruisers definitely should come, I’d love to see Regina Elena and Margherita classes, as well as Pisa and San Giorgio for example.

Real life was as low as 30.6 seconds noted for a trained crew. I am in agreement that 1.3 RPM is absolutely inexcusable when there’s so much documented proof that Roma and Littorio could hit 30 seconds with a well trained crew though.

Yamato could hit 28 seconds dependant on gun elevation but 32 seconds is more reasonable imo. 41cms on the Nagatos, Amagi and soon to be Tosa are oppressive enough for almost Bismarck level firerate.

Hello

The suggestions team pass a range of suggestions each month, covering every nation and multiple types.

To answer your question, yes there is always a chance, however suggestions are not passed based on a user requesting a particular type to be. Otherwise everyone would do so and expect the same outcome.

Its worth noting that suggestions also do not necessarily need to be “passed” for the devs to see them. They frequently visit the forum themselves and check suggestions and feedback.

Hello, and thank you for your response!

However, if it’s allowed…
You’re absolutely right to speak about the topic in general, but in this case, we’re talking about the fate of some very old “suggestion” some of which were already “passed”. Regarding the fate of the “Tsesarevich” and “Peresvet”, both ships were supposedly transferred to development in the old forum days, and one of them specifically in 2020, which is actually quite a while ago. And yet, to this day, we’ve heard absolutely nothing about the fate of either of them. Do we dare hope for a change in the situation?

But overall, as concerned naval players, we are somewhat upset by the “perceived unfairness” of the situation, where proposals seem to go unnoticed - even if this is merely a false impression.
Just to compare, even with a simple example, the - as part of IJN - “Mikasa” mentioned above had 75 votes. Other ships of the non-predreadnought era in the “passed” examples often had even fewer votes. Any of the Ironclads featured in my example already had a superior number of votes when the thread was created; and now, even more so, now that more players have learned about the existence of such suggestions.
After all, this clearly demonstrates the audience’s interest and the relevance of the thread!

And furthermore… You said that developers sometimes check forum threads themselves and make decisions based on feedback, among other things.
So, can we really hope that this thread increases the chances that developers will finally learn about it?
After all, what we asked for as a “Christmas naval gift” was, for the most part, the Hope,… so to speak.

It may not be obvious, but “old irons” can be interesting, especially in dead air conditions. Therefore, I think “oldies” deserve their place in the game.

I honestly would really like to have some of these older ships in the game, as they represent a period in naval history which is largely unexplored in-game and significantly less-represented in the general media. If you were to stop anyone on the street and ask them about ships like the Iowa, Yamato, or Bismark, they’d know immediately. Such older ironclads, semi-protected cruisers, and pre-dreadnoughts, however, get much less attention and would be very fun to play, especially due to their myriad of weapon systems (some of the French pre-dreadnoughts have five or more types of cannons!). While I mainly focus on coastal (which reminds me - I have to finish doing individual suggestions for Romania…), these ships fascinate me endlessly!

Either they don’t want to answer us more specifically, or they simply didn’t notice…

So hey! @Smin1080p_WT Sir, can you answer a specific question: does this topic increase the chances that the general issue (with this ironclads) will finally be noticed by the developers?

After all, even this topic here has a positive perception among the audience, despite the fact that not many people know about it.

Commenting on the above words of the discussion participants, I would like to add that in this case the topic asks about the fate of not the “old” but the most “latest” ironclads.

Spoiler: in a little more detail

Even the “Peresvet” was one of the first ships of a conceptually “new” type, familiar to the established ship concepts of the first half of the 20th century, but the “Tsesarevich” and “Slava”, after their modernizations (before and during the Great War), used exactly the same “filling” as the first full-fledged dreadnoughts - conceptually inferior to them only in the weight of the salvo. (The Slava’s heroic battle in the Moonsund Strait against the Kaiser’s dreadnoughts was a clear example of this.)
The aforementioned “Peresvet”, which received the most votes among the examples presented in the thread title, was initially distinguished by its long-range capabilities, which became relevant precisely for the period represented in the game.
I didn’t mention both the modernization of these ships and their existing counterparts in the Japanese branch without reason. Even when I was considering introducing these pre-dreadnoughts into the game, I considered their characteristics and their potential in-game capabilities. War Thunder already has all the conditions in place to ensure that the presence of these “late ironclads” doesn’t feel out of place or detract from familiar gameplay.

Meanwhile, I want to thank everyone who paid attention to this topic, participated in the voting, and “liked” it! Without irony, thank you all!
Although, as expected, the interested audience was smaller than for a discussion of a truly “fleet-wide” issue - like in mid-autumn, when the discussion of ship survivability attracted almost the entire active audience of the game’s “naval mode” - a discussion many of us were also a part of.
But, I believe, by the very fact of the voices present in the topic, we can already clearly demonstrate that we exist and that the general question of the topic is still important.

Dozens and even more than a hundred users took part in the polls in this thread and in the threads it presented about specific ironclads. I understand the nuances, but I hope that at least now the developers will remember that our question exists. @Stona_WT @Smin1080p_WT
