Currently, there are already three Mirage F1C variants in the game: the standard Mirage F1C in the tech tree, the premium clone Mirage F1C-200, and the Mirage F1CT equipped with an advanced RWR. These three aircraft are remarkably similar—all placed at BR 12.0 with identical armament configurations—which makes them feel overly homogeneous.
Why not introduce a lower-BR Mirage F1 variant to the French tech tree that excludes the Magic II missile and retains only the Magic I, Super 530F, and R530 as its air-to-air loadout? Such a change would serve two purposes: first, it would provide French Air Force players with more diverse gameplay options; second, it would help bridge the significant BR gap between the 10.7 Mirage IIIE and the 12.0 Mirage F1C.
Potential candidates for this role include the two-seat Mirage F1B, the Spanish Air Force’s Mirage F1CE, the Hellenic Air Force’s Mirage F1CG, or the Iraqi Air Force’s Mirage F1C—all of which historically operated without the Magic II, instead, they could carry Magic I or AIM-9Ps. These variants could be introduced as tech tree vehicles, event rewards, premium aircraft, or squadron vehicles, positioned at BR 11.0 or 11.3.
A Mirage F1 variant without Magic II would offer gameplay dynamics similar to the JA37C or J-8B: relying on medium-range radar missiles and close-range dogfighting rather than top-tier IR missiles. This would create a distinctive and strategically rewarding playstyle, making it a compelling addition to the French lineup.
not a bad idea, honestly. my main issue with france is always that i can’t grind it while playing with my friends, because france has no competetive aircraft between 10.0 and 12.0 without looking at the unfortunately also very mediocre BeNeLux tree. though, the main issue probably resides within the fact that france just doesn’t really have that many aircraft, whereas something like USA is pumping out various aircraft left and right.
Therefore, the French tech tree needs some high-tier aircraft with reduced loadouts to help fill this section of the progression. For instance, the three Mirage F1 variants currently in the game are all represented in their ultimate configurations, equipped with every available air-to-air weapon they can carry—resulting in disproportionately high battle ratings. If certain loadout options on the Mirage F1C were adjusted to reflect its early-1970s operational configuration, it could effectively fill those existing gaps in the tech tree.
the F1CT isn’t even the ultimate version of itself, though. it’s missing all of its guided air to ground munitions aswell as the ATLIS pod, but bug reports about this keep getting shut down on the bug reporting site. the radar also isn’t even the correct model.
+1 from me as well, this is a change/addition that has been needed for a long time and makes too much sense not to do, it’s so easy. The rest of the kit fits in super well with the 11.3 crowd as you mentioned, JA37C+J8B+F4E as well and would play incredibly rewarding and balanced.
Getting a unique 2-seater in an F1B (early) would be nice but if Gaijin wants to be seriously lazy (status quo) any of the export variants you mentioned as single seater C models with Magic 2 removed would also suffice.
Italy’s only official subtrees are Romania and Hungary. Any other vehicle present in the Italian tree does not mean all of those nations vehicles will go to Italy. Spain is not designated per a single tree as of right now, subject to change in the future. Same goes for Brazil which I often see people making the same claim about.
For example, the premium Spanish “Tiger HAD-E” is found within the German tree.
Great thread to further discuss it in if you wish to:
Sadly this isn’t a viable option, as this aircraft is:
A: Flareless (could be given ahistorical dispensers)
B: Modified for the HAF, never used any ordinance other than sidewinders (literally only sidewinders, nothing else). Whether you see that as a problem or not is up to you (I personally think 4x Aim-9P is a baller kit)
C: Greek operated. This is the most important since Greece is an Israeli-designated Subtree as of this year, meaning it wouldn’t go to France if it was added ingame, only Israel.
The other options would be nice tho! Hopefully we get something someday, a low tier Mirage F1 is something I’d really like to see someday ingame
i’d say it would be 10.0 material if not for the fact that the plane would comically outspeed literally everything from 9.0 to 11.0 except maybe the kfir that no one uses
Nah, they should give it flares and put it at 11.0. There’s a limit to how low you can put a jet if it has no countermeasures, at some point it just doesn’t work
so the spain MirageF1 may be the best choice, for its s530f and aim9JULI, which is another vision of aim9p4. And the spain MirageF1 has ALE-40 countermeasures launcher as well.
…this. The Mirage F1 would be too good of an airframe for 10.0, but the lack of countermeasures gets disastrous as soon as you go up from 10.0 to even 10.3. It couldn’t work
Just down the current F1C to 11.0 or with French tax, 11.3
Also F1CT severely lacks ordnance, for example AS-30s
(Apparently the F1CR cannot use any radar guided missiles based on the suggestion post. Therefore it can drop all the way to 11.0, with also having only one gun)
