Wasn't the whole thing about putting the aifield AAs on elevated platforms meant to stop *exactly this* from happening?

This is still happening on the regular. Gaijin’s “fix” didn’t fix a single thing. This wasn’t even the first time that happened just that round. And in the end, he wasn’t even killed by the AA. It was the F-15 that killed him. And while he was directly over the airfield, the Otomatics didn’t even attempt to shoot at him with their HE-VT.

As a sidenote, after seeing this constantly happening, I cannot take anyone seriously who describes the ITOs as “unavoidable death bubbles”. In just this clip, only 1 ITO fired a single missile at him, and it immediately slammed into the earth. They also just constantly ignore other planes well within their NEZ.

Im just seeing a player with skill using the terrain. Is that punishable?

After some of the early playtests often just devolved into people bum rushing airfields to shoot people just taking off who can’t fight back, Gaijin put the airfield AA up on raised platforms to prevent specifically that from happening. As you can see, that fix did not work.

Also, just flying low is not “skill”. It is just basic tactics.

To prevent it or just to mitigate it?

It was to prevent it, but as you can see in the video, people are still able to just rush the airfields unimpeded to shoot people who are completely defenseless as they are still taking off. Also I feel like I should mention this problem gets significantly worse at the lower brackets.

Well they can always spawn in the next or deeper airfield if thats the issue, tho its the players fault to not stop the enemy team to reach so deep. For example, at 11.0 the phantoms are the main air defense and the SAMs just a support.

Basic tactic that also worked IRL. Why is that wrong to do?

Funny enough this happened during the egiptian-israeli war. Egiptian miggers were camping, flying around and striking an israeli airfield, and 2 phantoms were used to clean the airspace, AA barely do smth if nothing. What Im trying to say its the players job to do the interception, SAMs just make the job easier for you.

I have even had people trying to shoot me down from the rear airfields as I am taking off. It happened earlier in that match as well.

Because this is a game, not IRL. Getting shot down as you are taking off is not very engaging gameplay for the enemy, and Gaijin is incentivized to stop this otherwise they start losing players. Go play 14.7 air sim on the nato team. It is just an airfield camping fest where the nato side is unable to get far from their airfield before 10 missiles rain down on them from the heavens. I would like to see you still defending it after you run out of all your SL and cannot even spawn anymore.

Again, read the above. This is a game, not IRL. Getting shot down on the runway is not engaging gameplay.

Because spawncamping is a bad game mechanic, especially in a mode that costs 10k+ sl to spawn in.

And it is the SAMs (and SPAAGs) job to protect the planes on the ground
