Warthunder Vehicle efficiency nerfs

Warthunder PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE REMOVE VEHICLE EFFICIENCY ITS SO BAD LIKE WHY.

Yeah, Agreed. Drives me nuts that Im punished for using any vehicle I like to grind any vehicle I want. If I want to grind top tier with low tier, then the punishment is the lower multipliers already. If I want to grind a low tier with a top tier, then why does it matter that it wont take very long. That should be the reward for making it too a higher BR

It makes sense for preventing people from grind to top tier just by playing low tiers. It helps force people to learn the ranks and mechanics.
Of course they could just buy their way up but anything to help limit those players is good imo.

As for researching low tier stuff with top tier, i can see why that could be removed.

Maybe, but still feels… excessive to me. Like I was really annoyed when I realised I couldnt use the Buc S2 or Harrier Gr1 (Rank VI aircraft) to grind out things like the Tornado Gr4 or F3 Late when they were added (Rank VIII aircraft) without having to deal with the effeciency nerfs. Likewise , last major I was annoyed that I couldnt finish grinding out HMS Warspite in HMS Belfast because it was 1 rank too low.

That argument might hold-out for preventing someone grinding a rank VIII with a Rank I. Though I would argue that the tiny reward multiplier is more than enough to encourage people to use higher BR vehicles anyway, and the research effeciency bonus could be increased from 10% to 20% to encourage moving down the tree. But at a bare minimum. The range needs to be increased. So maybe the effeciency last 2 or 3 Ranks instead of just 1

Yeah, the rp nerf for grinding 2 ranks above is rather extreme.

Play more vehicles instead of reducing your diversity of vehicles.

I do understand this is the reason behind the RP efficiency mechanic, however it hurts to know that you can buy whatever premium you want and immediately research the entire tree at the same time.

Research efficiency is one of the many systems that exist purely to extract money out of the players.

TL/DR, I agree with OP, basically if economy and progression in War Thunder wasn’t absolute dogshit, would anyone actually pay for the premium conent?

If you stop to think about it the whole research system is Buggered. If this wasn’t a subscription based game, the research system would be setup to slow the player just enough to ease them into new systems. Instead its a ultimatum between spending your money or spending months and years grinding.

Again, if this wasn’t a subscription based game, most of the vehicles would be side-grades instead of a long list of vehicles that need to ground through slowly and methodically.

Example being:

  • The US air tech tree could be as few as 10 planes from the P-26 to the F-15:
    – P-36 Folder
    – P-40 Folder
    – P-47 Folder
    – P-51 Folder
    – F-84 Folder
    – F-86 Folder
    – Lone F100
    – Phantom Folder
    – F-15 Folder

Use the example of the P-51 and the P-47, there are so many variants of these aircraft where differences between the first and last version are huge, however the incremental jumps from version to version are relatively small. Nobody should be forced into playing 5 versions of the P-51 and 5 versions of the P-47 to reach the F-84. These aircraft should be on an opt in basis, if you love the aircraft then by all means let the player continue down the separate P-51 tech tree, or the spitfire tech tree, or the Bf109 tech tree. Its the same with tanks, there’s no reason why the T-72 Can’t be foldered from the T-72A to the T-72B-3 but no players need to grind through the same vehicle over and over again with incremental improvements. I would argue that all 9.3+ USSR mbts are the same vehicle essentially, instead of it being 11-12 vehicles, lets just have a folder for the T-64, The T-72, the T-80 and the T-90; AND what about the UK players who get to player the Challenger from Rank VI to Rank VII.

I’m generally quite supportive of War Thunder and most of their practises however it’s odd timing. I’ve completed the battle pass and ground out all the events lately, so I’ve got nothing ingame to grind for at the moment and the new patch didn’t really add much for me. With the steam sale on I’ve been taking time to get back into old games and pick up new games. I really find it hard to justify the value of war thunder premium vehicles and premium anything really when you consider the value you get out of entire games that can be bought at the fraction of a cost. It’s a really hard sell when you’re comparing the time and fun you get out of playing helldivers II with friends, (a whole arese game mind you) compared to the value you get out of a Rank V premium for the same price. Everyone’s mileage may vary.

I want the War Thunder devs and Gaijin to make money and be successful, I just wish the amount of energy they put into extracting money from people would match the effort that goes into developing a fun and rewarding game. So many decisions made by the developers come at adirect negative impact on the players in order for there to be a monetary incentive. So much of War Thunder is actually awful but people tolerate it to different degrees.
