Nuclear Thunder is the first interesting thing they’ve done in ages and it’s super exclusionary; air & top tier only to play. I don’t play air so I’m immediately locked out.
Ground battles are begging for something similar. Something like Rush from Battlefield, or a frontline mode like Fuel Of War (shoutout if you played it), and ground sim battles? Don’t get me started, unplayable mess.
Top tier ground is also just a waste of time given the CAS balancing, which is seeing significant buffs next patch with ARM’s and MitM.
When was the last time they focused a full update on one nation or a new function like the fire and ice with flamethrowers
No fox 3 missiles does not count
This game genuinely cant die. I know its now kinda ass but theres genuinely no other free alternative. Mtc requires collaboration with a friend and wot is just ass
It is also good to note that Nuclear thunder is probably heavily inspired from nuclear option.
Gaijin already had the assets (Nuclear bombs, bases, AAs, tanks, convoy mechanic). They added ARMs and the new map, but that’s about it.
Ground RB top tier is slowly dying from obvious imbalance favoring russia and an inability to expand their maps for vehicles that require longer range engagements
Meanwhile air RB top tier did not see any HEAVY rework while entering new generations (which is why some air rb mains found nuclear appealing)
Naval is still very incoherent, with massive unbalances as well, and a lack of diversity that could basically be summarized as : bigger guns + bigger armor = me win. Coastal is quite worthless, as you have to grind an entire tech tree to end up being food for low tier blue water ships
There are currently zero AI-assisted vehicles in War Thunder.
Copy-paste is also less than 15% of vehicle additions.
4 of the 53 added vehicles in the last 3 months were copy-paste.
7.55% of additions.
So Gaijin opposes the use of AI, & they add mostly unique vehicles… and you’re upset.
Well, according to this post’s margin, this year the game should have been dead, when it actually hit a record high with Nuclear thunder. I’ll give this some grace that at the time this couldn’t have been predicted with the typical doom and gloom, but I would say that I hope it doesn’t and that a positive trend develops with the game approaching the end of it’s vertical growth in it’s two main modes. I have a post about this, I’m quite enthusiastic and I hope for the best to come out of this passion project during these 2 next years instead of death.
they do not care
the game especially ground was never supposed to be fun
its a meatgrinder designed to frustrate you so you buy premium time and vehicles
Haha, well, for me it’s just meant I play a lot less (before I played for 7 or 8 hours a day, while now there are times I don’t even play for 2 hours, spending much more time in test drive mode), and I haven’t spent any money lately. I think I’ve only spent €5 all year, and last year I spent €10. What I did do was sell the modern T72 for €350 and buy several premium items for free.
I find it strange how I feel like I want to buy things in the game (like during the sales the other day) but I don’t because I know the devs don’t deserve it and it would be money thrown away, money I could spend on other games. I’m clear that as long as the game is like this, I don’t plan to spend more than €10 a year, since they don’t deserve more than that, and even spending that little money I’ll still feel ripped off, but hey, even the most negligent devs in the world have to eat.
