War Thunder Hottakes

I don’t die to CAS, partially cause I know how CAS works.
My take is from my rather easy to attain knowledge on how to use CAS, which also grants you the power to avoid CAS in a tank with decent successs.

Exactly that! When I couldn’t get any further with my SPAA skills, it was time to acquire new ones. Despite my decades of simulator experience on the PC, I had avoided air combat to the death. When I sat down for two or three weeks and learnt it, thanks to some nice people here on the forum, it took my whole game to a new level. Since then, CAP has been an activity I enjoy. And you don’t have to be a pro to do it. I wouldn’t say I’m an absolute master, but if you’ve mastered the basics, you’ve got a good chance of sweeping all those players blessed with tunnel vision out of the sky.

@Zyranovos

So I did some digging…

The gun it was a shortened version of unfortunately never had a HEAT round, but actually had some development into an APDS round…

Edit: A suggestiom from the old forum had it with HEAT, with abt 240mm pen…

The TOG 2 is very good.

Cool

These are suppose to be hottakes mate. Wrong forum post

Cas needs to fly their planes in SB, while SPAA only has to mouse aim. There is a clear advantage for SPAA there. Therefore CAS is not OP in general.

Simple as that.

while SPAA only has to mouse aim

My guy…do you even play SPAAs? And if yes, bet you fall into the group of people that say: “Playing SPAA is boring gameplay.”

Al ground vehicles do have mouse aim. Yes i have played enough spaa to know that.

I don’t have to put in wheels to rotate even on a flakpanzer I.

I mean that should be known for everyone. Everything but sb helos and aircraft use mouse aim.

I suppose you must’ve missed all the threads complaining that the TOG 2 was dead on arrival and how it should be 4.7.

XD XD Lol. Sounds like a massive lack of skill on those players side

Realistic Controls (direct control) instead of Pointer Aim as an option for tanks is one of my biggest QoL wants in WT. :(

More than just QoL. In SB it should be mandatory. It’s not a ground combat sim as long as mouse aim is allowed.

Only… “but”… there is cross-play.

Not only would that give a marked advantage to controller users but usually they also get some form of aim-assist as well. Now I could use my HOTAS, but would still probably be far more clunky that a controller user

Whilst true sim controls would be interesting (I mostly play air sim with a HOTAS, so I know). It might just get a bit messy. To make ground sim more… sim. Id rather see things like driver view or even just bigger maps.

No they wouldn’t. They get jack in air sim, so they should get jack in ground as well.

Views need to exist as well. Go big or go home. Either make ground SB a ground combat sim or delete it. All the ground units simulate is non scripted targets for the real sim players.

But that is besides the point. My point was that the CAS statement was true in general.

As opposed to the current status quo of mouse users having a significant and universal advantage…

Not in WT.

I’ll add another one of my own.

High tier ground RB, is just like arcade. Every important aspect of skill is done for you, and tanks are much more similar than they are at lower BRs. There is no skill needed to play at long ranges with an LRF, no skill needed to be able to shoot on the move (compared to low BRs), and the advantages and disadvantages of tanks are much closer to eachother than at lower BRs.

At 6.7 you have tanks like a Tiger II going agasint an M41, which are two very different tanks. At 10.3 you have a Leo 2A4 going against a Turms, the differences between those are much less than the differences between a Tiger II and M41. They both have similar modern equipment, and they aren’t as different as people make them out to be.

except tanks are not spotted for you automatically.

No. You don’t have access to the speed in arcade battles in RB battles or the ability to to use stealth or your own planes and helicopters/

this is irrelevant since the LRF isn’t 100% accurate

shoot first or disable the gun.

???

Each tank is very fast, with a very stable gun. The matches are fast-paced, just like arcade.

The speed of modern tanks makes it feel like I am playing a lower BR arcade battle. Stealth is an important thing, I agree.

But it takes no skill to use compared to having to manually figure out the range. It might not be 100%, but it still is very accurate.

No skill needed relative to lower BR tanks. There is a small bit of skill needed, but it mostly reaction time.

I was giving an example of how high tier tanks are much more similar to eachother than low tier tanks. I might not have explained it that well.

Isn’t this true for all tiers. There is way to little distinction between the ground modes in general.

Well there is a crew skill that does it for you even without LRF… Soooo

The ground modes are holding your hand way too much across the board.
