Use the VDXR with HEVC codec setting in the VR Desktop launcher options. It also gives a 10-15% performance gain compared to SteamVR.
Thanks for the suggestion! I tried using VDXR with the HEVC codec in the Virtual Desktop launcher options, but unfortunately, it didn’t change the issue. War Thunder still launches on my desktop and doesn’t enter VR mode on my Quest 3.
Other VR games, like No Man’s Sky, work fine, so it seems like the issue is specific to War Thunder. I’ve also tried launching the game both through SteamVR and directly via the Meta app (Oculus runtime), but it remains stuck on the “Next Up” screen in the headset.
If anyone has any other suggestions or knows of a fix, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks again for the help!
did WT ever start up in VR?
No not at all
the game runs fine but only on my pc or in desktop mode in virtual desktop
-
Did you start WT via steam or via virtual desktop?
If over steam, check if its set to VR
(right click on WT, properties…)
-
When the game runs and you open the Virtual Desktop screen (menu button on left Q3 controller), there should be a button for “switch to VR” or something like that.
-
Another thing you could try is the standalone version of WT.
There is a switch for VR in the launcher.
One small thing: What is the order in which you start? Do you first connect your headset to the PC, then start WT, or start WT, then turn on the headset and connect it?
open VD in the quest3 lunch steamVR then WT
Hm, don’t VD and SteamVR have the same function, connecting the PC to the headset?
Did you try leaving out SteamVR?
if i dont use steam vr and open the game straight through the VD game menu it lunches the game but i cant switch to vr mode
I have VR mode always toggeld on in WT. When I launch with headset connected, it automatically opens in VR, if I have the headset not connected (for tanks and ships), it automatically starts in desktop mode.
My process:
- Start headset
- Start VD on headset => headset connects automatically to PC (as VD streamer app is autostarted with Windows)
- Start WT launcher => WT starts in VR mode
is this how you do it?
No, I don’t use the link in VD as you do at 0:44. I simply connect VD. Then I start WT via my desktop shortcut.
I’m not sure about the function of SteamVR. Can you also start WT without SteamVR on your system?
I have the suspicion that maybe VD and SteamVR cause a conflict, but I’m no specialist or savvy enough to really know…
I uninstalled steam vr and the same thing happens, when you lunch the game dose it change from desktop view into vr view?
What I noticed in your vid is that the whole connection of VD takes very long. In my case it’s a matter of realyl just 2-3 seconds, and is done aotomatically: VD streamer app starts with windows, on the headset i simply need to start VD, no additional steps or settings required since I’ve installed…
Yes.
(well most of the time, sometimes BattleEye blocks it, but then when I try again it comes through. That’s very rare however, maybe 5% of all tries)
and is your WT installed through steam?
No. = /
