Vr Headset issues

too good, good enough to play ground forces in sim

I needed to OC my 3070 Ti to oblivion to get 72 fps on medium graphics, now I need to upgrade to 5080 to get decent fps on high settings

So you’re using HTC Vive Pro 2 or Pico 4?

If I OC my 2080 my room will catch fire if I don’t have a water block to add to it, I’m debating buying a 4080 super which is already water cooled or somehow adding a water block to my GPU and figuring out where to put another tank in the computer (the CPU is already water cooled)

Quest 3

Isn’t it possible to use the main heat exchanger to cool both units?

Possible? sure, but which device do you want to feed hot water into?

Also I’m not sure my AIO would handle extra water and you’d have to build a custom rig for that which I don’t have experience doing - and I still need a water block or water GPU with a water block and also broke (thanks Obama).

Going for a water cooled GPU is an insane hassle for barely any gain. What’s the point?

You’re better off spending that money on a better air cooled GPU.

I figured it’s the new anticheat blocking VR. I had no issues for weeks, now the same **** keeps happening. The bug also overleaps with the implementation of BattlEye. Atleast it’s throwing an error log now. Instead of randomly crashing without any explanation.

bug

WT finally stopped me launching the EAC exe and then BT threw a ton of errors so I started a clean install and copied the content folders over… it now works as before.

Even OpenXR toolkit doesn’t throw an error, which is better than when they switched…

I just wish they would take a day to address the persistent VR bugs that are several years old and make the game so frustrating!

I don’t assume they’ll ever address any since the devs involved in VR are developing Aces of Thunder.

I’m pretty sure they just outsourced it to a competent VR studio with their assets… Gaijin show virtually zero interest in VR in WT. It’s clear that they do no QA for VR whenever there is a major patch.

Of course not. VR is a niche in a niche (SIM).

As long as it does not contribute to RB, where the money is, no effort will be invested.

Oh boy how I stand corrected: Obviously I’ve never looked close enough when testing Virtual Desktop. Did so now (for MSFS2024), and in WT it’s absolutely breathtaking! Much better resolution and perfectly crisp image! Stuff I always thought was just fuzzy because of general VR resolution is now crystal clear!

(Still got an issue with MSFS2024 though, which worked also perfectly for two days, now crashes on the headset after a few seconds. Ah well…)

how is it better than the native VR environment you use?

  1. While native image is always slightly blurred (especially noticable on small writing on gauges and HUD), with Virtual Desktop the image is much sharper, really as if you’d look at a monitor. This is also very noticable in hangar, where with the native method (Quest Link), one sees for example almost no lines and rivets on the aircraft, with VD everything is clearly visible and sharp.

  2. Staring up/connecting is fast and uncomplicated: Start the VD app in the Headset, 5 seconds later you’re connected and directly on the desktop. With quest link I needed to do two clicks more just to getting it to connect, then once connected needed to switch to the desktop view.

  3. With Quest Link I often had the issue that che connection could not be made (every 5th connection or so). The I’d have to restart the headset, or the PC, or both. With VD I never had any issues.

  4. Size, position and curvature of the virtual desktop in VD is very easily adjustable.

I saw somewhere it was compatible with Windows Mixed Reality but when I tried it there were no options, there must be more to it for WMR to work…

I’m sure most my issues can be fixed with a new rig.

Thanks for the tip about VD nevered tried before on my Quest3 now that i did i won’t go back to link.
I got better graphic better fps and less lag.

It was the same for me, nicer textures as well

I’m experiencing an issue where War Thunder launches correctly on my desktop, but the game does not appear in my Quest 3 headset. It gets stuck at the “Next Up” screen on the Quest 3, and no VR content is displayed, even though SteamVR detects my Quest 3 correctly. I’ve tested other VR games, such as No Man’s Sky, which work fine, so this seems to be specific to War Thunder.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • Reinstalled both SteamVR and the Meta app.
  • Verified and updated the settings in the War Thunder config file (config.blk), ensuring VR and OpenXR settings are enabled.
  • Tried launching the game both through SteamVR and the Meta app with the Link cable and Air Link.
  • Disabled Anti-Cheat in the launcher settings.
  • Tried launching War Thunder directly without SteamVR in the Meta app.
  • Tried using SteamVR in Virtual Desktop.

Despite these efforts, War Thunder still only launches on my desktop and never enters VR on my Quest 3.

Please advise on any further steps I can take to resolve this issue or if there’s a known issue with VR support on the Oculus Quest 3. Thank you for your assistance!

If you have a good enough WiFi connection for air link, I strongly recommend virtual desktop.
You don’t need steam VR, OpenXR, and even the meta app with it and get rid of all the loads from them.

I’ve tried using airlink but the game doesn’t open on the quest 3 just on my desktop

i just tried virtual desktop and the same thing happens, the game opens but doesn’t go into vr mode
