I’ve been using it with the AMX-40, Roland 1, AMX-30 DCA, AMX-30, AMX-30 (105), SANTAL, and Mephisto - it’s been quite fun (minus typical War Thunder issues). It’s a very capable vehicle at 9.7, and while a new round would be interesting to play around with, I don’t think it needs it before a suitable 9.7 replacement is added. Smin made some good points on this topic.

From my own experience, the round performs fine if you’re using the vehicle as intended. I suppose this does depend on the map you’re playing having functional cover and flank routes. Regardless, I haven’t had any issues elephant hunting with F1. Perhaps my opinion can be changed though.

Just posting my little comment to add activity to this thread in hope of a faster change for the Vextra.

I did vote for the addition of the F2 round but making it 10.0 max (if nothing else change)

Currently, every other nation either has a light wheeled tank with a better round (M900), better technological suite (type 16); faster or more nimble (2S25 with a better round too).

Even if gaijin think that its good to keep a 9.7 line up, nobody wants (at least most of us) that. Because I believe that not a lof of people play 9.7 tank to play 9.7

Before getting our beloved CAS planes up in br (SEM), i believe that most of us were already uptiering our tank in 10.0 to use the CAS we had (Tigre HAP for people spending a bit more, and the SEM).

Adding the Vextra with F2 shell and putting it 10.0/.3 would not have changed a lot in the end but at least it would have paved the way for further addition in the 10.0-10.7 bracket, where we could use our CAS again. With the F2, it would also make the Vextra somehow relevant with the Leclerc line up we have.

For those interested too, my line up consist, in 9.7 of:
-AMX40 (9.7)
-Vextra (9.7)
-Milan, a premium plane without flares nor guided ammunition (9.7)
-Amx 30 Super (9.3; premium)
-VBCI (9.7; premium)
-Santal (9.3)
-AMX30DCA (8.7; used mostly as an IFV)
-Etendard IV (9.0)
-SA342M gazelle (9.3 Heli with up to ONLY 4 HOT2 / Mistral)
In the end, you only have few good TT option, being the AMX40 and Vextra, while both AMX32 suffer from poor mobility and one of them suffer with a 105. The roland if you want to take it, is not even that useful due to its elevation bug (only worth getting to kill heli). The VBCI, is not even 9.7 worth due to his high profile and poor damage output (MK258 30mm might be the worst autocanon i ever touched in high br) but the unmaned turret compensate a bit. The CAS plane you can use in your br are few in option, if you want planes with CCIP you need to get planes without flares and with poor missiles or uptier to 10.0-10.3.

As a solution (which was already said before):

  • Add the OFL F2 for the Vextra and bring it to 10.0 and rank 7 (10.3 if you really hate us, but you better be fixing that armor and gear ration)
  • Correct the AMX40 OFL 120 G1 penetration value and bring it to 10.0 and rank 7
  • Add the AMX10RC TML 105 at 9.0-9.3 to take the place of the Vextra
    ----> Use this “new” line up of 10.0/10.3 vehicules (Corrected AMX40 & Vextra; Jaguar/SEM; Tigre HAP; Roland 1) for the introduction of the future Benelux tanks if that comes to be true, hence making you, gajin; able to put a 10.0-10.3 premium tank for the French TT (could be a Leo, who cares) with a working line up.

You may even be able to add things such as the Vextra POLE (120mm in a turret derivated from the Leclerc) in 11.0, things like the VBCI Philoctetes at 10.3/.7; the EBRC Jaguar at 11.0, one of the Leclerc Prototype as a 11.0 premium. (These are only the exemple that came first to my mind, but I know that there are a lot of other option)

With all of that, you may achieve what France actually lack in top tier, a fully fleshed out addition of light vehicule to complement any other tank that might come between the 9.7-11.7 bracket; also paving the way for the addition of some top tier premium and so it being profitable to you (a 10.0/.3 one and a 11.0 one). (Leclerc EAU could also be added as a squadron vehicule like the M1A1 AIM)

Warning to my fellow French main or French TT enthousiast: I know talking about the addition of premium for the french top tier is kinda delicate as most of us doesnt want that kind of thing. But we need to face reality, we are not being put in a France Only VS X + Y + … nation during battle, so weither you have or not top tier premium tank in our nation wont change much. Sure it will add to the spam of low level players in top tier but a positive way of viewing this is that it may bring more money to gaijin while showing that a lot of people (maybe) have interest in the French TT. Hence inciting gaijin to put more effort into it.

I don’t have any numbers with me, but seing how good the SOMUA SM was and still is, i believe that it might be the best seller for our nation. But people are still stuck when they reach Rank 6 and its where things can get difficult (non stab tank in bracket were most enemy are; but you know it i suppose; and all the other shitty thing we have to go trough); making people loose interest in reaching our Top Tier.

In the end, most of what i said is personal beliefs that I draw conclusion from the multiple post and messages I see across this Forum. Do not hesitate to discuss on that and propose other thing, we have to show we are active and won’t let that pass without being impolite, disrespectful or trolling.

Would the devs be willing to move-up a few French vehicles to bolster the 9.7 tech tree line-up in the meantime? The current 9.3 options are a bit lackluster against the armor of 10.0/10.3 opponents like the various versions of Leopard 2A4s. It would be nice if maybe the MEPHISTO could get the HOT-3 at 9.3 for players to use while devs evaluate the Vextra’s performance.

I even want to add one thing :
French mains at top tier should WANT a premium Leclerc, simply because having a Leclerc with terrible stats would make the devs actually buffing it, resulting in a global buff to all leclercs since they share so much!

It would be fine with F2 at 9.7, it’s still a worse round, worse profile, and comparable agility in ways that matter to10.0s with rounds that significantly outclass it.

That’s what we said about Chally. There’s a premium, so surely they’ll buff it.

I’m kinda convinced. Almost every tech tree has a light tank around 10.0 and almost all of them has CITV and pen over 400 even 500 like Striker. Although I’m fine with the current state of Vextra, give it F2 won’t break the game.

The problem is that AMX40 is also at 9.7 with that crap round, and the armor is nonexistent.

It would not be. The Vextra has far superior mobility compared to the M1128. It has a 50% increase in weight with 2x the engine horse power.

Vextra with F2 is an absolute no go for 9.7

F2 uses DU material and doesnt have better penetration values.

Best options are either SHARD (which is too powerful for now) or DM53.

So stryker that’s as agile as need be (hence “ways that matter”) whilst also having a round notably better than F2 if it were added, notably more survivable silhouette at range, and has the utility of 12.7mm MG would end up worse than the Vextra if Vextra received f2?

Vextra would be comparable, but still worse in a survivability sense, whilst still having a worse round. Alongside lacking the utility of a 12.7mm MG.

So ~30mm less pen suddenly makes F2 a “notably worse round” compared to M900, but an extra 6-7 HP/ton and an extra 7 km/h reverse speed suddenly doesn’t matter?

Talk about double standards to push your point/agenda. Lets be honest, you just want your light tank to club.

Just because you dislike what I have to say, and do not want to acknowledge well reasoned positions because it highlights more than just agility, does not mean you have to accuse others of double standards. At 9.7, it would be fine with F2, assuming no other issues are fixed.

But if we want it to go up from there because it got a worse round whilst having worse survivability but decent agility than something at 10.0, I am happy to discuss sending the stryker up to 10.3-10.7 in order to maintain reasonable standards as you seem so intent on.

Do you know many people who want an iconic tank they’ve been looking forward to to be artificially diminished? And all for some arbitrary reason and rule ?
Who wouldn’t want it to perform well, and if not, at least to reach its full potential ?

A lot of us don’t exactly want it to club. Just to be treated with the same standards major nations get, as opposed to what is currently happening.

There was no well reasoned position. M900 and F2 will be identical in what they can and can’t penetrate.

So in the end the M1128 will be more survivable and the Vextra will be far more mobile and agile. So they are pretty much equal, and so should be at the same BR.

You say that, yet you want the Vextra with F2 to be at the same BR as the ZLT11 and Centauro romor, which would both be far far worse.

It should get F2, I never disagreed. It’s just that it should get a BR increase to 10.0-10.3 when it gets F2.
