Unfortunately that source is a CIA translation of a Russian document. So it isn’t a primary source.
so if i understand things correctly now there are three sets of ammo listings:
one set for the m/36
one set for the m/48 converted down to m/36
and one last set (only two shells) for the m/48 only
i think i misunderstood the different sets for being different guns.
What confuses me is in game:
- slhpgr m/43B fired out of the m/36 barrel with correct values
- slpprj m/42B (which they have named 42B but is listed as m/42 in the amkat i have) with values from the m/48 gun (if i understood you correctly)
- some weird made up incendiary fragmentation round (slbrandsgr) that i don’t have in my amkat
- and lastly the slsgr m/484 using the m/48 barrel i think but with wrong speed values?
any chance you could share that? or are you looking in the physical books? x)
Most of that is incorrect and is waiting to be fixed
Speaking of @Gunjob didnt you pass my suggestion to the devs, about the wrong ammunition. In the Lvkv 42 and VEAK
Looking at it, it appears i have confused the standard HE with HE-VT
I did yes.
not only that but the VEAK has no “standard” HE in game.
they made the slsgr into a slbrandsgr for some reason.
Hence why i made the post.
which i did correct myself on here:
as i noticed they use different fuses.
do you have a source on the m/90 not being an early version of 3P?
because the m/95 is marked as LK (“lågkänslig” meaning insensitive munition) which is a later variant of 3P if i remember correctly.
Points 1 and 2 seems to be what they’ve done for the lvkv 42 yes. What vehicle uses slbrandsgr? I haven’t seen that in any amkat. The m/484 seems to have the values given in the 1972 amendment where the lng m/48 charge uses a new type of powder, NC 1054 3,5/0,9x6 rather than what’s given in the 1960 issues. I’m guessing all values came from the updated version of the 1960 issue (so 1972 or later) but were mixed between the m/48 with m/36-48 barrel and m/48
I have access to the amkats in confidence so I can’t share right now sadly
the lvkv 42 and and the VEAK 40 in game have HEFI-T shells instead of HE-T.
no problem with the sharing! :)
Edit: i just looked and it seams like all of the vehicles with m/36 and m/48 guns uses HEFI-T rounds.
Quotes from the book Bofors 350 år p. 212-213
Says that Bofors only started investigating the construction of 40 mm HE-VT shells during the second half of the 1960s and that the decision for development was only taken in 1970. This would suggest that 40 mm HE-VT shells weren’t available in 1964-1965 except possibly in very experimental forms
cool! :) i’ve seen quotes of that book floating around but didn’t feel like spending money to look it up x)
Thanks for the info! :D
Honestly, for being the Swedish military, 5 years from the decision to start development to being in active service is FAST!
It’s great. Don’t have it myself but happened to be at the library today, will be looking to buy it myself :)
Yeah seems fast, but it’s also mentioned that the navy specifically contributed financing for the creation of the 40 mm HE-VT shell so they were evidently interested in adopting it early on. So not that unreasonable since it’s a matter of shrinking an existing technology rather than an entirely new development
That’s very true. And since it’s not a very large thing it’s going to be faster to do iterations and test different prototypes.
Where on page 11 are HE-VT shells implied?
Nowhere there was just one shell that had the same stats as the VT round ingame. Forgot to edit that out.
Yeah, the slsgr m/484 shell is real. It just wasn’t HE-VT.
no but the slsgr m/483 is
Is it?
yes its is
Slsgr m/483 and m/484 are both very much a real shell. There are also shells like slsgr m/486 and m/487
