U sure it only US plane? and that u did turn off this setting?
Controls > Aircraft > Instructor > Auto-restrict controls of aircraft near the ground.

As others said, check your controls.
Flew my Hellcat a few days ago and had zero issues being near the ground with full-real controls. Well, i did literally have zero issues but that’s just the nature of historical matchmaker.

Has your instructor switched on. Isnt there a setting for limiting controls when close to the ground?
