Uptier and why it does not fit in game anymore

Imagine having only one aircraft you have played correctly

In every jet aircraft of 7.0+ you played, only a handful number reached a 1.5KD,… only 1 got 2 KD (J-32B, while A32A is at 0.5KD,…)

And even on the MiG-21 SMT you played 686 times, you only have reached a 1.9KD,… for 59.5% winrate,…(once you got experimented with that specific platform)–> i shall recall you that the MiG-21SMT is favorably placed in BR.

How can you be “that good” on MiG-21SMT and be that bad with a MiG-29 or MiG-23’s btw?

You have no consistencies through your gameplay.
You proposed me a duel, on the only aircraft you can play (and thinking you’ll have easy time)

Should be hard to be you having such laughing comments on your game experience,… but still no reason not to think about it with objectivity to explain why you’re currently complainning on something that is not a problem.

because uptier is a problem and no one cares about your k/d of 6.myass, if you are so skilled (wich no one cares about) come and show how uptier isn’t a problem in a 1v1 instead of wasting time watching stats of other players

What a1v1 will prove, first of all?
Apart that you made a mistake and died from downtier aircraft?

You still don’t understand how/why uptier is not important,… you hide yourself behind this excuse like an ostrich to his predator.

the best aircraft wins, that is going to be the proof so it is not fair, lets talk about tanks now what you think about t62m1 against m60? this is fair too i bet and is only “skill” and 7.2394kd

Ok be complaisant with yourself mate,… you don’t wanna learn keep on the good work of feeding me XP and Silverlion ,…

a big talk for someone who refuse a 1v1 with a poor low k/d like me, i bet you k/d is as high as your weight

Go check it for yourself,…
Go compare our MiG-21F-13 and then tell me.

completely useless point

Why did you asked then?

Stats mean little anymore, and even if they did, it is quite ridiculous to flaunt stats that are not that good lmao.

What stats means if you could farm stats when you kill the AI or play very passively?

A pipe dream. This would be nice and dandy, if the matches were properly distributed across the whole BR spread. It’s been years and years since I’ve been living in this endless 0.7-1.0 uptier hell. It doesn’t matter, if it’s tanks, ships or planes. It doesn’t even matter, if my lineup is stock. This Uptier Thunder needs to end. What’s even worse, I can have couple of wins in one branch of service and then get punished with multiple losses in another (including another nation).

In my opinion, the best solution would be 0.2BR steps and then 0.8 BR spread. You still have a variety, but this would eliminate the current +1.0 BR uptiers that are so prevalent in this game. This is especially bad in Naval where I constantly face 5.7 and 6.0 cruisers in my 5.0 destroyers. The current BR system will be even more messed up when the newer battleships come out. You will then have something like 8.7 BR jets bomb mid-WWII battleships. It just doesn’t make any sense.

The problem is that with a 0.7BR spread or 0.3BR spread, even prop RBs that does not need that much decompression will be affected. And when certain vehicles are spammed by grinders, like Ju 288C spam or F-5C spam, you still gets uptier games consecutively, although not as bad as the +/-1.0BR spread.

EC BR rotation is waaays better than just getting over 90%+ getting an uptier game because you can get 100% downtier game which is selectable for playing or not every few days.

What a weak argument, a lower BR spread will be always better.
If the players will spam specific tanks and getting good results, the tank should get a higher BR.
As long the balancing by Gajing is working.

Spamming of that vehicle doesn’t mean it can change it’s BR because it is being spammed.
The F-4S is being spammed by new players to grind US top tier jets, but the F-4S itself is basically F-4J with wing slats, so no need to increase its BR from 11.3 to 11.7.

F-5C is being spammed as well, but there is no need to move from 10.3 to 10.7BR, at least in meta at this time. MiG-23ML has the same BR as MiG-23M/MF for somehow so, it can move up to higher BR in SB, but it is still copy and paste of MiG-23MLA which is really fine at its BR in other gamemodes.

Also, since the rotation BR is literally already existing in the game, all Gaijin needs to do is C&P the source code and make some changes for working in normal matchmakers in AB/RB which should be tiny changes.

I often see people complaining about facing all-aspects at 9.0-10.0 and I don’t know why. I’ve even seen people still complaining about them at 8.7 which I don’t think can even happen anymore. The only all-aspects you can face at 9.0-9.7 are going to be on planes that exclusively fly low, slow, and nearly always in the same direction (towards bases.) It is basically impossible to avoid these missiles if they are shot at you, but its relatively easy to avoid getting into a position where one will be shot at you. MiG-19 and Ariete are far scarier at 9.0 than Su-25s or A-10s, and they have no advanced weaponry whatsoever.

10.0 flareless is a little tougher, but only in a full uptier will you start to see all-aspect IR on planes that aren’t subsonic attackers, and full uptiers are thankfully rare in my 10.0 experience (and correspondingly full downtiers have been depressingly rare for me at 11.0.)

All the way up to 10.0 there isn’t an extreme SARH threat even in a full uptier, so you should always be climbing. If you’re above 3500m you should not have to fear All-Aspects. Once or twice I’ve seen a trollish Su-25 that decided to climb up high with no A2G, but that’s a gamble and a half for him too.

TL;DR There are lots of oppressive things in uptiers, but I don’t think All-Aspects on slow attackers are one of them.

I think the idea of uptiers and downtiers is good, and it’s an important part of the game that creates variety to the gameplay and adds “realism”. Understanding tanks’ strengths, weaknesses, and power differentials is an essential part of WT gameplay; it is why for example you can have epic moments in heavy tanks bouncing a dozen shots. And if the scope of tanks you could face was more limited I think it would make the game more bland and boring, just like a normal fps where the gameplay depends more on tactics and reaction time. I think 1 BR is a pretty good range where top-tier tanks are strong without being overpowered. I do think that getting full uptiers is too common though.

Bingo. This sort of thing is exceptionally common not just in WT, but across gaming as a whole; a large subset of people absolutely cannot handle no-win scenarios… even when it’s their own fault for getting into one.

Well, for 9.0 they are one of the problems, but for me the biggest problem is the 9.3+ supersonic jets like F-104s and advanced missile carriers such as Hunter F.58 and MiG-21SPS-K, Harriers etc.

If you were on a Sabre or MiG-17, you could still avoid the missiles being fired themselves, but when you were on an aircraft like the Hunters or Super Mistake B2, you could avoid them but could still be blasted by guns or AAMs from close range against a aircraft with far better performance.

In the case of Hunter F.1, there is absolutely nothing that can be done against the MiG-19s, which differs by ONLY 0.3BR.

I’m inclined to agree that 1.0 is pretty much fine. There are exceptions and odd balance issues here and there, but across a game of several thousand vehicles it works far more often than it doesn’t.

There’s also an element of faulty perspective in most “uptier”-related complaints: People trying to claim that any time you’re not top of the bracket you’re in an uptier. You’re not.

In a 5.3-6.3 match:

  • 6.3 vehicles are in a full downtier (also, there’s a max of four per team)
  • 6.0 vehicles are in a partial downtier
  • 5.7 vehicles are in a partial uptier
  • 5.3 vehicles are in a full uptier

That is to say, the glass is not “one-quarter empty”, it’s three-quarters full. Leave it to gaming communities to twist something into “one-quarter empty”…

I would argue that being in a partial downtier is actually the most “comfy” spot to be, most of the time. Being a 6.0 in that above match means the absolute worst you can face is at most four vehicles merely 0.3 above you, and every other enemy is at your level or below. In addition, those 6.3s will likely draw more attention from your team as priority targets, often giving them a proportionally shorter lifespan.

The flip side to this is you also have up to four 6.3s on your own team, and likewise they’ll likely draw more attention from the enemy than you will. It’s often best to not be the most obvious, highest-priority target, but instead just a bit behind/beside them, as it were.

The problem is that the uptier or downtier is random but not 50:50 because of BR blackhole issues.

It is fine to bring your inferior vehicle and face against a better one for “realism”, however, some players want to play “fair,” although not as strictly as in tournaments, such as Bf 109 F-4 vs. Yak-3, Bf 109 G-6 vs. P-51D-30, Sabres/Hunters vs. MiG-15/MiG-17, Century Series vs. MiG-19/early MiG-21, and so on.
