Idk what about claims you are currenly talking. If you are about carousel existance - then it was never a flaw. It is a flaw in the same way as any hull ammo storage. More over, its much more safer, than other placements.

Okay, just plain logic. Carousel (at least T-72/90 design) locates in the lower part of the hull space. Not in front hull, not in turret. In the lowest possble place. In real conflict enemy tanks or any AT doesnt aim in specific parts (mostly), just in the target (so its mostly CoM). And yeah, with CoM hit - carousel have lower chance to be hit.
Like, thats way Ammo stowage in Shermans were moved to lowe hull part (and additionaly covered with wet water jackets)

Yes, in theory that’s how they thought it would work. Turns out it doesn’t and it’s even possibly the worst place you could put ammo in a tank.
Any penetration is a guaranteed ammo hit and especially when coming from the side, where most of the RPGs will come from.
Let’s not even talk about the new top attack missiles that do the same but even better.
