Underperformance related to the Su-34

So I need to put this out here become its genuinely an issue that needs attention and is something that needs to be talked about. The Su-34 doesn’t need to be at 13.3… 13.0 some would say is unbalanced but it really does underperform in arb. Yes, it has R-77s you can argue that but it has no data link and no HMD. Its super sluggish when turning which you can expect from a fighter bomber, but it faces nothing but uptiers because of how popular the top tier BR range is and it seriously screws it over. You are slower than most fighters when carrying bombs and when you turn to avoid Fox-3 spam it can’t keep up. Notching is impossible, it can’t really fight back either due to those missing top tier “features”. This plane at this battlerating has seriously given me the most rage and probably the worst experiences I’ve ever had playing this game. It doesn’t need to be this high, even if it means removing the R-77 and placing it at 12.7/13.0. It’s unplayable in anything other than ground and its sad because it’s such a beautiful plane. The topic needs to be brought up to Gaijin, I seriously have never had this bad of an experience in ANY vehicle in War Thunder.

Again, why people insist that dedicated strike aircraft need to be competetive in A2A role.

Exactly, which is why it shouldnt be 13.7 in the first place.

It an Attacker not an Fighter. It a quite powerful plane still.

Yeah dude, give us more compression! We need more!

Because Gaijin insists on making air rb a fighter death match game mode. There are no proper rewarding ground targets, terrible map ground target and spawn layouts, no dynamic ground targets and no affect on match outcome from attacking ground targets

oh dont get me wrong, I absolutely agree with you there.

Wrong. It ever was!

Because A2A is pretty much the only useful thing you can do in ARB ?

the V004 has datalink tho doesnt it?

It’s fun when you realize you’re flying an insufferable bricky and that every kill against an UFO is an accomplishment.

R-77s are garbage at BVR and are only usable below 10km to be honest. This would be fine if the plane had HMD but it doesn’t, which seriously impacts it’s close range capabilities.

R-73s are good on paper, but when strapped to a HMD-less brick it’s hard to use them to the fullest extent, which also isn’t ideal.

Bottom line, Su(ffer)-34 is pretty much a mediocre plane for ARB, even in the best of circumstances.

So fly it A2A or leave it in the hangar.
Not every plane fits the ARB gameplay.

The Ayit with a 8.7 airframe goes up to 9.7 only because of it’s missiles and you wanna put a plane with 8 R-77 down to 13.0. If this would happen, you can hear the whining of the US players even in Siberia.

I do not get why it is going up to 13.7 in its current state. I could understand it better if they decided to give it R-77-1s while also moving it to 13.7. But putting the current Su-34 at the same BR as the Su-27SM seems like a terrible idea.

Because how else do you grind out the vehicle’s modification?

It seems fine to me, it’s got really good thrust, really good AESA radar (maybe PESA, don’t remember 100%, the Su-24 is more my thing), and it’s really god damn maneuverable, like, better than the MiG-29, and has a tons of weapons at its disposal.

I currently have the ability to research it, maybe I should take a looksie and grind it myself to get a 100% accurate rating of it.

It isn’t pleasant to use. It seems like a good package to use, but the competition you run into essentially means you can’t use it as an attacker as you will be forced into a position that you either can’t defend yourself or can’t attack targets, and if you try to use it as a fighter you’ll be sorely reminded that you’re missing almost mandatory kit at the rating.

You can’t really use any of the AAMs effectively, and what you face generally will have some form of MAWS, so ETs aren’t really effective. The rare downtier, you can do alright. But not nearly as well any other aircraft at the rating. The maneuverability is great, until it is laden. Then it is barely adequate, unless it is heavily laden, at which point it doesn’t matter. But most of what you see also doesn’t care how agile you are, as they are equally agile, or able to engage you from areas you’ve little in the way to react to them.

Their proposal to send it to 13.7 in air is just incredibly stupid, especially when you look at the fact they want to neglect to send the F15 at the same rating up, which is just better than the Su 34. At present, it barely copes at 13.3. Or if we’re just looking at the Russian tree, Su 33 is effectively a better platform than it, at 13.0. Su 27sm is also just strictly better, even if the radar is worse, it has the capacity to utilise its weapons effectively.

It’s just a travesty.

Stock performance and stock grind sucking some serious ahh arent issues unique to the Su-34.

Trust me, I know, I played the MiG-23M

That’s the problem, every plane should fit the ARB gameplay, it’s Air mode ffs.
Since ARB is pretty much all A2A, balancing planes with that in mind should be happening.

Where did I say it should be 13.0 ?
R-77s are hot garbage past 10km and in close ranges the plane itself sucks ass on it’s own.
