'UH-1C XM-30 / UH-1C' is need help

Dear Developers,

As a long-time, passionate player of this game, I usually refrain from posting complaints or suggestions. I tend to adapt and enjoy the game as it is. However, I feel compelled to raise this issue as it has become increasingly frustrating, and I believe it has been overlooked in the community.

Let me address the problem with the UH-1C helicopter in the American tech tree.

The UH-1B, as the first Huey, does not have any visible targeting camera mounted on its model. It makes perfect sense that it uses a 6x zoom optical scope — it’s a fair and understandable implementation.

However, the real issue lies with the ‘UH-1C variant’. Despite having a large, clearly visible targeting scope modeled on the nose, it still uses the same 6x zoom scope as the UH-1B. This is baffling. Why put effort into modeling the scope visually if it’s functionally the same as the previous one?

What’s worse, the UH-1C XM-30 is currently rated at BR 8.7, which makes it extremely difficult to play. In this BR range, enemies come with MANPADS-equipped SPAAs, while I have no way to respond — no RWR, no flares, not even a decent scope. All the while, I’m breaking my neck and burning my eyes just trying to keep the target in sight, squinting through a modest 6x scope trying to manually guide missiles at targets they can barely see past 1.9 km. Beyond 3 km, the missile shakes uncontrollably and misses altogether.

For comparison:

  • Mi-8TB has 4 km range missiles, 8x zoom scope, and sits at BR 8.0.
  • Mi-4AV has 10x zoom optics, and also sits at BR 8.0.
Yet the UH-1C remains at 8.7 BR with inferior optics, no flares, and no RWR.

Proposed Solutions:

To make the UH-1C XM-30 / UH-1C competitive and enjoyable again, I suggest the following:

  1. Lower the Battle Rating from 8.7 to 8.0 or 8.3
  2. Upgrade the optical scope from 6x to at least 10x zoom to reflect the modeled targeting camera

Thank you for reading this lengthy message, and for your continued hard work in developing this wonderful game. I truly hope this issue receives attention and that adjustments can be made to improve the gameplay experience for UH-1C pilots.

Sincerely,
A dedicated fan of the game

those two are helpless fat pigs that can barely keep themselves in air

the huey is just fine, 6x atgms on a pretty nimble heli is just enough

not happening since the B huey is 8.3 and is pretty good already

Used to have a higher zoom but it got changed due to a bug report, also of course it has no flares it was introduced before manpads even existed

From my experience flying both, even the so-called “helpless fat pigs” were far more comfortable to play than the C Huey. I was able to operate strategically, probing SPAAG fire from around 3 km and planning my approach accordingly.

To be honest, as someone who really enjoys and has spent a lot of time flying the Mi-4, I even found myself wondering why it was lowered to BR 8.0 — it still felt perfectly capable even at 8.3.

The UH-1B is manageable — after all, it doesn’t face missile-equipped anti-air vehicles. But have you actually flown the UH-1C yourself? Even after just 10 matches, you’ll understand. It’s nothing short of a circus.

In my opinion, a reasonable solution would be to move the UH-1B to BR 8.0 and the UH-1C to BR 8.3.

Alternatively, simply give the UH-1C a proper optic — at least a 10x zoom scope — to match its model and allow it to function effectively.
Also, although the TOW missile is listed with a maximum range of 3.75 km, it begins to wobble severely from around 3 km onward, making accurate guidance nearly impossible. Whether this is related to the scope magnification or another issue, it would be greatly appreciated if this could be reviewed and corrected.

I see, so it originally had a higher zoom. Even if it was changed due to a bug report, I hope at least one of the following options could be considered now: either lowering the BR, or providing the UH-1C types with a better scope magnification.

And yes, I am fully aware that the Huey historically did not have flares. My point in mentioning the lack of flares was not to argue against realism, but to highlight how difficult and frustrating it is that the UH-1C is placed in matches where it faces MANPADS-equipped vehicles without any means of defense. That is what makes the situation feel so hopeless.

It’s another compression issue, the AH-1G cannot go down or it will be the same BR as the Japanese/ Italian Hueys despite having being far more agile and better armed, those hueys cant go down because they are already fighting WW2 tanks in a down tier, then it’s just step upgrades from there, although the ITOW doesn’t seem like much of an upgrade, so the UH-1B and C could be the same BR and just get folded.

It’s unfortunate, but it really does seem like a BR compression issue. The AH-1G is already at 8.0 despite not even having guided missiles. While it does have better agility and armament, isn’t it still just as vulnerable to roof-mounted machine gun or SPAA fire when performing rocket runs? XD
I don’t think lowering it to 7.7 would suddenly let it dominate matches like the old top-tier Soviet helicopters did when they had access to S-13OF rocket runs in first spawn.
(Honestly, I haven’t really flown helicopters that rely only on rocket runs. I considered it suicidal, so I just skipped that part of the lineup.)

I also think your suggestion about placing the UH-1B and UH-1C at the same BR and folding them together is a reasonable solution. Keeping them at the same BR (8.3) and allowing players to either unlock it if they want or skip it and move on sounds fair to me.

Thank you for sharing your perspective — I really appreciate the constructive discussion.

You can try to report it, although they can ask for sources.

Thank you very much for sharing the link — I really appreciate it. Thanks to your help, I was able to upload the replay file and screenshots there as well.

All I can do now is hope that it will be reviewed positively.

Thanks again for your support.

Rockets can set of missiles, btw I do plan on suggesting multiple Huey’s in the future just so that you know

It’s good to hear planning to suggest improvements for multiple Hueys as well. Hopefully something positive comes out of it. Thanks again for your input!! ;)

I already have one Huey suggested… actually I have 2 heli suggestions and another Huey pending
