Its been a while since these turret baskets have been added, and we havent really had a conversation since.
Obviously no one like them but are they as bad as you expected, are they ok, do u still think they should be reworked of even removed???
I play a nato nation that doesn’t have these. I did play top tier US and yes Its annoying just because its such a big and easy target your guaranteed to hit but nothing different to your breach or ammo getting blown out (which i think is 10x worse)
Whats your updated thoughts???

Really just feels like a targeted nerf to the Leo and Abrams. Baskets should have been added all at once, the fact that they didn’t do that is Gaijin showing that they want to artificially nerf certain vehicles.

What do u mean by this? I didn’t follow the topic closely as it didn’t really affect me. They added them to all nations at the same time didn’t they???
Abrams didn’t really need a nerf, i mean i struggle more playing it than killing it.
Terrible addition tbh.
Especially after gaijin promised that only the most upper and lower parts of the basket count as horizontal drive.
Io behold, it goes live and entire basket counts as horizontal drive.

leopards cant turn and click you back to the hangar after sponging sideshots anymore. Abrams rarely survived sideshot so it doesn’t matter much

My opinion on them is simply this. They are a nerf to both the Abrams and Leo’s. With that said I wouldn’t mind then if all tanks got then at once and all had the same hit box. Currently on the Abrams the entire basket is part of the horizontal aiming drive so when its hit you won’t be able to turn your turret to return fire in the rare occurrence your breech isn’t disabled along with the basket.
Now when you look at the Russian tanks and their auto loader basket you will notice that it isn’t part of the horizontal aiming drive at all. They are two totally different modules entirely which results in you hitting and disabling the auto loader with the big difference being that they can still turn their turret as well as return fire with the shell that’s already loaded before they experience any downtime from it all. This situation happens way more often than it should resulting in frustration by many players

Turret basket? I think you meant ‘forum-lore accurate’ horizontal drive, lol.

Its a good point but arent america and germany the only western nations with it irl?? We know the challenger doesnt have them, not sure about leclerc.

Both the Leclerc and Chally have a turret basket. It is where the gunner, loader, and commander sit. With the exclusion of loader in the Leclerc.

Well being the turret will still turn even if the turret basket is damaged, personal experience with damage turret floor and the side guards after a large buried IED hit the belly of my M1A1, my turret still rotated. It was under manual power as all electrical power ton the vehicle was lost.

I’ve been playing the CR2 a fair bit over the weekend (so no basket), but I didn’t notice any difference in how killable enemy tanks were
they boutta give the chally basket next

you have so much to look forward to /s
It seems the devs arent willing the revert this so i at least want to ask that ther reduce the repair time on the Abrams hydraulic pump. It seems ridiculous that we still have a fragile module that causes fires every time and fully disables turret traverse with a 30 second repair.

yeah and its not even in the right location

Id say good. WT is aiming for as close to realistic components as they can.
its a technical nerf but seeing as the T64 family of tanks has had an autoloader for months the original plan was justified. how it is now is honestly unfair to the russians considering it isn’t a much bigger hurtbox than it was before
Issue is that parts that have nothing to do with turret rotation count as horizontal drive.
Another issue is that currently only two MBT families, Abrams and Leopard, have those baskets modeled.

Gaijin said the changes were coming to other tanks later, just like the autoloaders and more detailed internal modules have for many other vehicles.
They can’t give it a basket. Never had one irl and there is evidence for that
