I’ve noticed a number of Eurofighter Typhoon reports either sitting untouched or seemingly stalled for months. To be clear, no one (at least, not me) is asking for flight or visual aircraft model changes. The focus is on smaller, already reported issues that should be relatively straightforward to address.
To keep visibility high, I’ll maintain a running list of accepted and pending reports. If anyone else has reports to add, please chip in.
Oh great - you’ll summon ‘he who shall not be named’ again who will begin pontificating how the Typhoon cannot supercruise.
Or go round corners. Or fly. Or whatever argument he’s dreamed up this week.
Don’t worry man, it was an epic forum battle from quite a while ago. Something of an in-joke on Typhoon threads along with the phrase ‘We think is Marketing Lie’.
Sensor fusion argument is fair as is definitely not as good as its contemporaries like rafale. That is fairly well substantiated as anyone that’s active on either rafale or euro threads
although i dont own the rafale im fairly sure it is able to hardlock a softlocked target from tws that is softlocked in second most narrow tws scan and going straight at you. intead of just completely losing the target and the softlock, taking you two seconds to either softlock him again or switch to hmd. Which more often than not also just refuses to not lock targets going straight towards you (highest closure rate possible, should give quite good radar return?!?) that bs keeps constantly getting me killed because of losing solid locks and then not being able to relock and basically having to disengage (or die trying to relock) from an easy target and reset because that frikking radar wont do its job.
and is 100% reliable in locking anything but the plane thats coming straight towards you (just shoot any missile and the ef is unable to lock you for a solid 2 seconds). now im not that knowledgeable in all that radar stuff and it might be the alknowing snail in all its wisdom models all hmd radars like this, but im quite sure there is no fking way a missile going straight towards you has a bigger radar reflection than the giant plane flying right behind it.
i rly hope thats the cause but also i never had those massive issues hardlocking targets from such a crappy tws mode. not with f14, f16, gripen, no other plane constantly loses locks like the ef does. And those also dont have aesa radars or?
Gripen even has the Blue Vixen (placeholder, but is a modified version IRL which is why its a placeholder for it) which the CAPTOR-M is a heavily upgraded version of. The fact the Gripen/FA2 still have more reliable radars is just hilarious at this point.
But unless they plan to exclude Britain, italy and Germany from this statement. Its the only practical choice.
yeah thats what i mean. they have (more or less) similar radars to the ef, yet the efs radar just does whatever it wants it seems. hmd mode is smash your lock radar target button (or just decide to go into a notch because ur radar is acting up again), tws is more for stealthy scanning than actually locking stuff, idk. never had these issues with any other radar in 3 tech trees. mig 29gs radar probably works better in that regard instead of just dropping locks whenever it feels like it
Germany has several Typhoons with Mk1 already installed and Britain has fully trialed Mk2. Which is more than enough for Gaijin (heck the Rafale only has HMD because it Trialed it, would be unfair to turn around and say Britain cant get AESA because it only trialed it)
And Kuwait Typhoons have had Mk0 installed for years
The only Typhoons that cant be upgraded to CAPTOR-E is the T1s, but we have T2+ in game already.
