Among the possible weapon loadouts of the AMX, anti-ship missiles (ASMs) were included. Leaving aside the Exocet, which isn’t relevant here, the Kormoran — a no beam rider — could work fine. However, if they keep insisting on the idea of not giving the Kormoran to Italy because of the infamous German Navy Tornado event, that would be a very questionable choice.
Historically, we’ve never had many stand-off weapons, and one of the few available ends up being locked behind an aircraft from another tree. Now, the German NavyTornado, who would have any real interest in it? Only a collector of German vehicles, since if someone really wanted to progress through the german tree, they could just buy the other premium Tornado or, even better, the Swiss F-18.
There’s no real competition between them anyway — that one also costs 48 coins, and demand hardly meets supply. Surely, no one is going to grind through the Italian tree in competition with the German one just for a Tornado with Kormorans, while this decision leaves the Italian community without any ASMs at all.
SE is interesting, but for the rest, they just enabled the A2N mode for all remaining Tornados. Previously it was just the MFG and WTD61 that had it enabled.
They’ve also renamed it from SRC to SEA which is good.
There were several Tornados in the Italian air force that kept the “Locusta” desert camo for years. Some beyond 1997
Including some that were updated to carry CLDP like the 1995 Tornado has.
Yes the paintjob is done only during main maintenance, so the canarini flow some year in that camo. there are also some “arlecchini” with nato camo and some jellow pieces
Hello sorry for the wait, I havent been on warthunder and thus couldnt respond because the forum’s activity policy.
Reasoning: All documents in Italian service (that ive seen) only say that the tornado can carry 2x Kormoran under the plane. This includes the 1990 aer.1 f-pa200-1 (which we cant use in reports) and a 1995 maintenance log book
I also have never seen a picture with an Italian tornado with 4x Kormoran, the picture you sent would not count as it is a multinational prototype for weapons testing for all tornados. Even if that plane went into Italian service after prototype phase, it would have never used more than 2x kormoran
That doesn’t really make that much sense in game, since it was capable of carrying them (which It was) it should get them, no matter if that configuration was commonly used or not irl
I just sent in what I could with the evidence, and what would be undeniable by gaijin. After it’s implemented maybe we can try to get it on the wing pylons, but knowing gaijin’s bug report system it will be difficult
On the grounds that the Tornado MFG can, I cant think of any reason why the Italian Tornados couldnt.
Its more than likely that Italy just always ran fuel tanks or clean wings. Those wing pylons actually being used for weapons is incredibly rare for all nations.
So can be done and was done are 2 potentially different things and given the AS-34s and Sea Eagles being mounted on those pylons, I dont see why they would limit the italian tornados differently, especially as its the wing pylons that would be the more useful place to mount them in WT.
Fixed in 2.51.0.8, now we can finally play sim in the A-200C and feel immersive. Feels a lot more powerful now that you can actually see the flares from the cockpit (when wings are fully open)
Hopefully when they eventually let the rest of the Italian and German Tornados (and the German F-104G) carry the AS.34 it will have a limited ability to hit GPS target points. Would be a fun way to use the IDS, especially seeing as at 10.0 GRB you get only dumb bombs currently and only GBU’s (no IOG) on the 11.3 MLU… against things with Mavs, Kh-39, etc…
