5 bombs against one base gives 600+ score to get near max rewards. Fast enough to outrun fighters. Good situational awareness for the BR with digital RWR + accurate threat identification. Tons of chaff that you can leave on during your entire sortie if you decide to fly high. You can even rack up a lot of kills during the event season. AIM-9L good as well.
I like the answer. It shows an unwillingness to acknowledge the fact. Unfortunately that’s part of it today… I have my data from my teammates’ military records and my own.
If you find a Tornado player, he is about to give up or is simply enduring the subterranean performance of his aircraft. For whatever reason.
No one claims the aircraft is usable or even acceptable. And the stats show it.
And even in the GRB there are tons of alternatives that are better, so the tornado doesn’t play a role there either.
This is the only tactic that is currently feasible with the aircraft.
Hide from every plane as best you can. And with a bit of luck, pick up what your fellow players left behind.
If they have lost by now (you are flying at the edge of the map and that takes time), someone starts a combat mission and you are revealed and destroyed. After a 15 minute flight with probably not a single SL or RP.
That’s why I don’t bother with that game mode at all: One gigantic furball in the middle, with also all ground targets conveniently placed there as well. Zero possibility to explore the actual roles of attackers and bombers in a meaningful and realistic way.
And then people are surprised that those mudmovers are not a Wunderwaffe…
It’s pretty good overall and it is maneuverable but bc it’s a Dorito it looses speed very fast but it’s pretty good at reversals because for the first turn it pulls better then any other aircraft ( many people hate it for unknown reasons but I like it and have a pretty good kd)
When it came out it was either 10.3 or 10.7 I don’t quite remember. I think it was 10.7 where it was perfectly balanced, then it was put at 11.0 which at the time was pretty much 12.0 black hole which ruined it completely, then the great BR shift happened, 11.3s went up to 12.0 etc, where the Tornado IDS Marineflieger was put at 11.3
Can someone explain why this aircraft’s radar NEVER displays air contacts, but sometimes picks up anti-aircraft guns on an allied airfield?
I just discovered that 632 satisfied players have given this plane a phenomenal 3.32 rating. I’m sure Gaijin won’t do anything. He won’t even fix the broken radar.
The radar is Air to naval only. It cannot detect any aircraft. Prior to the coming major update, it was errenously enabled on the WTD61 and should have only been on the MFG.
Coming with this major all Tornado IDS are gaining the same Air to Naval mode which is also being given a proper designation of the SEA mode.
Why it detects AA guns around Airfields I dont know, that is a wierd bug, but it will only lock onto aircraft when you use the ACM mode.
The Tornado IDS radar though is missing quite a bit. Including ground mapping radar, a fairly short ranged GMTI mode and possibly a basic Air to Air SRC mode.
The Tornado IDS is a very good aircraft, in theory. In practice, it performs poorly in ARB due to fundemental flaws with how ground attack aircraft interact with ARB. Performs very well in ASB though. Also doesnt help that the Tornados are misisng loads though and Aim-9Ls are underperforming rather considerably at the moment
This radar’s X-ray indicates “close air combat” (working), “long-range air combat” (NOT working), and “ground target search.” Nothing about “sea targets.” This is a premium aircraft sold for money. Why is Gaijin DECEIVING customers?
