Tornado IDS WTD61

Second this. Tornado is very good in sim.

5 bombs against one base gives 600+ score to get near max rewards. Fast enough to outrun fighters. Good situational awareness for the BR with digital RWR + accurate threat identification. Tons of chaff that you can leave on during your entire sortie if you decide to fly high. You can even rack up a lot of kills during the event season. AIM-9L good as well.

I like the answer. It shows an unwillingness to acknowledge the fact. Unfortunately that’s part of it today… I have my data from my teammates’ military records and my own.
If you find a Tornado player, he is about to give up or is simply enduring the subterranean performance of his aircraft. For whatever reason.

No one claims the aircraft is usable or even acceptable. And the stats show it.

And even in the GRB there are tons of alternatives that are better, so the tornado doesn’t play a role there either.

If you can prove otherwise, go for it.

This is the only tactic that is currently feasible with the aircraft.
Hide from every plane as best you can. And with a bit of luck, pick up what your fellow players left behind.
If they have lost by now (you are flying at the edge of the map and that takes time), someone starts a combat mission and you are revealed and destroyed. After a 15 minute flight with probably not a single SL or RP.

Ridiculous.

@Commodus6504,

@Schindibee is saying that Tornado IDS are quite usable in ‘Air Sim’

We all know that they are awful on ‘Fighter-Realistic’ at the current napalm meta.

No, you maybe misunderstand my question: What part of my stats tell you that the Tornado is performing poorly?

You just claim “stats show it’s bad”?

How exactly?

Not giving up: I find it an excellent base bomber (Sim EC, admittedly), and I enjoy flying it.

I do.

So? The Tornado IDS is neither designed nor suited for CAS. Interdiction / Strike, that’s what the name stands for, that’s what you get.

Of course there are better alternatives in GRB than the Tornado, obviously.

That’s why I don’t bother with that game mode at all: One gigantic furball in the middle, with also all ground targets conveniently placed there as well. Zero possibility to explore the actual roles of attackers and bombers in a meaningful and realistic way.

And then people are surprised that those mudmovers are not a Wunderwaffe…

Every time I see other Tornado Lover’s reply about SIM EC,
Honestly, I think I might need to give it a try about sim ec too.

Sounds like a haven for attackers.

I’m just quite worried about learning new tricks as an old dog. Though.

Wdym, Those mudmovers are wunderwaffe.

But Just in the wrong place and time. :/

Well, In ARB, Commodus’s claim is right.
They are nothing but useless in ARB. :'|

  • Can’t bomb in time.
  • ground targets are in the middle of a furball. So attacking them is pure suicide.
  • Can’t be undetected.
  • Resisting on A2A is usually futile.

And this topic is tagged as [Realistic Battle].
So I agree with both of you guy’s claims.

I hope that Gaijin reworks ARB and makes those attackers rise and shine.

hmm, then i have been fed misinformation, but, the tornado still sucks at 11.3

Luckly the IDS/MFG are now 10.0 in GRB :)

Wait. Got even lower from 10.3 on GRB?
That is a bit shocking XD

Yep, IDS/MFG and the Ita obe without GBUs got lowered again :)

I have a 13.0 plane (Ja37di) that has 2 aim9ls (ok it has amraams but it’s abt the aim 9ls)

Is it good? Is it manueverable? Is it good at dogfighting?

It’s pretty good overall and it is maneuverable but bc it’s a Dorito it looses speed very fast but it’s pretty good at reversals because for the first turn it pulls better then any other aircraft ( many people hate it for unknown reasons but I like it and have a pretty good kd)

In RB, I don’t like it.
But in arcade, it works OK. Haven’t tried sim yet.

When it came out it was either 10.3 or 10.7 I don’t quite remember. I think it was 10.7 where it was perfectly balanced, then it was put at 11.0 which at the time was pretty much 12.0 black hole which ruined it completely, then the great BR shift happened, 11.3s went up to 12.0 etc, where the Tornado IDS Marineflieger was put at 11.3

Edit: I just checked; it came out at 10.7 ARB

But that was before the decompression which moved a lot (if not most) of the aircraft in that range upwards…
