Because Brimstone can be used with either direct line of sight with laser + mmV or just the mmV without direct line of sight. In either mode, it’s FnF. No one is expecting the latter but the former would give the Brimstone no more fire power than any other agm in game. In fact it would still have less range and punch than existing FnF AGMs
Gaijins decision to limit it to laser only turns the Brimstone from one of the better AGMs at top tier into one of the worst. Especially with the compression at top tier, the Gr4 will struggle just because it’s a ground attacker with limited self defence. Let alone when loadout is considered.
It’s also frustrating that theyve done very little to augment the GR4s loadout knowing full well the community reaction would be…like adding storm Shadow, ALARM or even just better version of the PGMs that were reported months ago

IMO, if Gaijin wasnt ready to open the can of worms that is radar guided A2G munitions, then they shouldnt have even mentioned the Brimstone
I don’t agree with that entirely, but I think they should just remove IR seekers as well. Limit the su34 for example to only the laser guided variant of the kh38

I mean it’s a historical implementation currently, it sucks we cant get the SAL+mmW mode yet but IIR has already been rejected a dozen times so asking for it again won’t make a difference.
Dont entirely agree with that either, but I do agree that the implementation of a 20+KM missile with IOG and a thermal imaging seeker makes a lot of other contentious additions less contentious overall

implying Gaijin ever gave a dooky about historical reasoning when the Yak-141 and F-16AJ exist in game, or the load of hypothetical/never used loadouts in game

I am reserving final judgement when they model it as brimstone and not hellfire. It’s missing a lot of range and even a prox fuse. I can see a lot more reports in coming weeks as well.
Even at this point, should just give us wing mounted missiles
But overall, initial impression. It is is not a stand off weapons, but a hit and run weapon. Which doesn’t work in GRB at top tier usually.
In ASB, it’s dependent on new objectives for it. Without that, ePaveways will just be superior to use

I have plenty stocked in my cupboard at home, I’m quite fond of the black flavour but I’ll sometimes eat fancy colours as a treat
- long guidance time for an individual weapon
- requires you to stay within the range of the enemy AA for the most part to guide it fully
- it’s mounted on a plane with an atrocious flight model and inability to defend itself
- the PGM 2000 can literally engage from the same range and is fire and forget meaning you dont need to stick around
the Brimstone is worse than most top munitions found at 12.3, it’s “saving grace” is that you get 9 of them. But guess what in the time it takes to use 5 brimstones, a GR7 could’ve fired off all 4 mavericks, returned to the heli pad, landed, re-armed, and he’s already back to the battlefield (yes we actually tested this btw)

you mean the other munitions that can be fired from outside of most sam ranges and track by themselves, are faster and have a better range? just because the thing has a gimmick it can do doesn’t make it a great weapon when compared to AGM65s or KH38s (which btw the laser guided KH38 can do the exact same thing so another reason for them to remove the MT if balance is their concern)

I completely agree with you. Lets just hope that when it gets added to the game its not as bad as it is in the devserver.
