Just like how Britain can get both South African and Indian, Japan can also have multiple nations to complement it.
Perhaps another ASEAN state with close ties with Japan? Their vehicles would complement Thai and Japanese vehicles such as the T84 and VT4.
Even with Thailand I doubt the vehicle count could rival the major nations so more seems welcome.

And adding the M1A2T to the Chinese tree will ruin the experience for a lot of people too.
Hell I think there are also Russian players who’s experience is “ruined” by Japan getting the Thai Oplot while they aren’t getting the Ukrainian one (not that I care much about them, but that is a different topic).
You can make a whole list like that.
Absolutely, I think there’s a good case to be made for Japan having a few Sub TTs. There’s a lot of neat ASEAN stuff floating around that would be cool to see added atop the Thai vehicles. Help balance out lineups and fill gaps.

Or… we rework subtrees.
So things like this don’t happen. No need for a few Chinese players to get angry over VT4 coming to Japan via Thailand as its technically not part of the Japan tree, they’re just connected. Similarly to real life- Thailand is not part of Japan.
Thailand fans or Thai people get representation and vehicles from their own military, Japan players can still use Thai vehicles in their lineups, and we don’t end up with multiple mods punishing others for going off topic or talking about politics.

Chinese players strongly oppose and absolutely do not want to see the VT4 added to the Japanese TT (or any other) tech tree. Such an addition would be completely meaningless, as both the Type 90 and Type 10 already outperform the VT4 in terms of overall capability. With its 7.1-second reload and insufficient armor, the VT4 is inherently underpowered, and there is no logical reason to introduce it as a Japanese vehicle.
Gaijin should take the opinions and feelings of Chinese players seriously, instead of continuing to disregard them. For many of us, historical memory and national sentiment cannot be ignored. In a game like War Thunder, which presents itself as a “realistic” military simulator, vehicles are not merely gameplay elements — they are also symbols of national identity, especially when it comes to modern, active-service equipment.
From both a logical and balance perspective, adding the VT4 to Japan (or elsewhere) is unjustified and inappropriate.

Good thing they AREN’T adding the VT-4 next update.
And good thing they aren’t adding a Japanese VT-4, but the Thai-Modified VT4. This version is a Thai vehicle, owned by the Thai army, used by Thai soldiers, in Thailand.

Its a subtree for Japan. Britain never used the MiG-21 or T-90S, China never used the F-16A MLU or the T-80UD/DU1, Sweden never used the F-18C, etc. etc.
Yes Subtrees should be reworked, but IF the VT-4 is added, it’d have no Japanese symbols, no Japanese crew, nothing. It’d just be under the Japan Research Tree.

Because Gaijin decided Thailand is a sub-tree to Japan. Complain to them all you want.
Thai players deserve Thai vehicles in Thai subtree. Denying Thai vehicles to Thai sub-tree because of chinese problem is selfish, arrogant, and disrespectful to Thais.

I’d be all for China receiving the M1A2T. As for the Su-30, where would they get that from?
Also doesn’t mean every Thai vehicle is being added to the game. The leaks and official confirmation still miss out the BTRs, Fv101 and other light vehicles. They also miss out the earlier vehicles used by Thai Airforce and Ground forces.

Also, as I said, Gaijin is inconsistent. Japan are still missing Thai aircraft. I’m all for them being added it they’re part of the subtree though.
Either way,
VT-4 isn’t confirmed. No point in getting worked up about it, and Gaijin will never listen to complaints once its added.

VT4 as a premium vehicle, could be added to the Chinese TT, since most Chinese players strongly disagree with giving the VT4 to Japan. This way, it would satisfy Thai players without causing anger among Chinese players.

VT4 is a vehicle developed by China, so assigning it to the Chinese tree would be much more reasonable. I don’t want to see two VT4 from different nations fighting each other in the game.

In any case, it is important to voice our opposition before the VT4 is officially confirmed. Saying “ No point in getting worked up about it” is exactly the kind of attitude that allows Gaijin to push through these controversial decisions without resistance.
If players remain silent, by the time it actually gets added it will be too late — and at that point, Gaijin will simply ignore all complaints, just as they have done countless times before.
This is why we must make our stance clear now: the VT4 does not belong in the Japanese TT
