Russia and Japan could both get it, it would be cool to see a Ukraine tank in a tech tree that’s matches with those styles of mbts but just giving it to Japan is kinda dumb, the T-84 would obviously get foldered with the T-80U on Russia as 11.7 most definitely, maybe a 12.0 but it’s basically a newer T-80UD with cool stuff

Quite frankly I agree. This is why if South Korea were to be added and they don’t want to do the independant tree route (at least they’ve said they don’t plan on making any in the near future) it should go to Japan as an asiatic NATO tree. I’d reckon they’d be happy to be included in the game just like Finland, Hungary and now Thailand. Not undermining that those 2 nations have relations to heal, but for the game, it’s good enough.

not rlly, it would give both sides a valid reason to have thailand…, this was probably done just bc japan had not that many vehicles and they added a nation with not that many stuff to begin with…

This game don’t want to involve itself with politics. I respect that and I think that it is the right direction to go. However, that does not mean that certain issues should be ignored. Just like how people would be unhappy if Ukraine is added to the USSR tech tree, players and gaijin should understand that the addition of certain vehicles to tech trees would be a controversial option. This is never about politics, it is about avoiding sensitive and controversial issues in the game.

Yeah, this one is best left untouched when there’s better options of nation with much better relations and positive views of Japan such as Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.
There is no need for Korea to be a Japanese subtree, it would only create unnecessary tension.
This one I’d say is a bit different, since it’s not a Chinese tank, but a Thai tank.
I understand waiting because the timing is unfortunate, waiting for Thai crew voices and other things that can reinforce that it is in fact a Thai tank, but that’s because those things don’t actually hinder Thai players. I don’t think completely denying it because it’s what a third party wants is fair.
If they really don’t want to add it, just add something else in its place to fill the same role. It’s not unusual that a vehicle isn’t added, but it is unusual to deliberately hold it back.

Definitely not. For a reason other than history, I’d say that South Korea (and Korea as a whole) have too much to offer to just be a Japanese subtree. Japan can have a fair amount of the ASEAN nations since most of them don’t have as much variety as Korea.
So where would Korea go? No idea. North Korea could go to China and South Korea could go to a Turkish tree, as they’re often described as “Brother/Sister countries”, having a strong connection since South Korea’s conception. Or just a United Korean tree.
Considering we are all here talking about it, I doubt it.

They don’t have much to offer aside from modern equipment if we’re talking non C&P. This is the case for a lot of ASEAN nations.
Like you said, you don’t know where korea would even go unless they got their independant tree. They’re most closely assocciated with Japan. Turkey is a complete stretch just to get them added. They aren’t even remotely close to each other geographically and this is just based on a casual friendship from a brigade sent to assist during the korean war.
Comparing this to Ukraine & Russia is a huge non-sensical leap. Unlike RU&UKR, they are allies and not at war. In technicality Ukraine is already in the USSR tree, if you don’t know the T-34 tank was invented in Ukraine. Their pre independance-self is basically already there.
I am not, even explicitly said this in my post. To make it clear, I’m on the side that Korea be added as an individual nation, but if not I hope they go to Japan, making most sense out of other options.
Also this is hugely railing off from the original discussion so I’m gonna stop here.

I don’t think we need to discuss politics to justify something that a majority of Korean players don’t want. This is the target audience for the Korean nation in-game, so they should take a priority in the decision.
And as it was said before, Japan has alternative options. Thailand is already in game, nations like Indonesia and the Philippines could make for likely options in the future. There is no need to upset a part of the playerbase to achieve something that can already be done another way.
