I really want to enjoy top tier jets but the current meta 16v16 with planes having more than 8 fox 3 missiles is way to overwhelming. We really need 8v8 on top tier jets
Missiles would be fine, even the player count, its the map size that sucks.
Ive recently played large afghanistan and it was incredibly fun. While not as intensively packed with action, i did get to actually use my radar, had to land and refuel and rearm etc.
perhaps, but the fact I have to notch a few secs from taking off the runway is sad. I really wanted to enjoy top tier jets but it’s just more flustrating than fun. Also some fox 3 evasion practice maps would be really really good. I found only one user mission but couldn’t get it to work
Which will only get worse with things like meteors.
But if you actually had to fly for a while before engaging, build up speed and gain position, like you would have to do on larger maps…
We need both smaller matches and larger maps, and a lot of the issues come from the player density being too high for how capable the missiles are. 16v16 also leads to a lot of steamrolls and unbalanced matches.
The amount of missiles launched on you doesn’t change with the amount of players per team.

Just wondering, why whould people play it, especially if rewards are same.
8 vs 8 and still having 8+ Fox3 launchers qould make it actually even worse, less targets = more missiles flying on same target , and still that mode would be dominated by micas.
The issue is map density.
Too many people forced into a too small of a map that channels players into a smaller part of the map.
Instead of the optional 12v12 thing which seems incredibly rare, it should instead be changed to 12v12 default with options for enabling 8v8 and 16v16.
Would make an immediate and lasting impact.

as I said in my initial comment, Ive recently played large afghanistan 16v16 and it was fun.
same thing happened today when I was grinding with F1C-200 - 16v16, several smaller clashes all across the map, then it turned into game where we actually had to use our radars and rwrs to find out the enemy positions. Hell, as much as I hate base bombing in current meta, I even went out of my way and changed loadout for second sortie to bombs, as to force the enemy out of hiding.
Late, similiar situation different map (Smolensk i think?). I was in mirage, team mate in tornado against last enemy which we couldnt find and both blind hunt/avener got already used. Flew as escort, tornado bombed, which forced Mig out of hiding, then i took it down.
These three matches were the best overall experience I had in top tier ARB in years, and I mean this absolutely unironically.
Clearly, the mode can work. It can be fun. Which kinda makes the usual experience all the more frustrating.
Could it work with smaller teams, probably, but I fear that it might overtune the experience too much in other direction - you will take too long to find the enemy under some circumstances.
The overall issue is that air rb has aged like milk in a microwave in a desert in a glass dome. I really hope the deep strike modes bases get added to actual battles alongside bases, base in the center and buildings around
16 vs 16 usually for me means i have defend myself from over 10 missiles at the time…
8vs8 overall means less missiles per person
Maybe if you fly first in hi altitude.
But when having less players on missile spammers you will get even more missiles at you since people have “spare” missiles on that style
No…? Making the map bigger and doing nothing to objectives creates the exact same size furballs as the small maps.
yes, i did not explicitly mention speading out the objectives, but i talked about large afghanistan, which has more spread out objectives.
no map in air rb has spread out objectives. They all follow the exact same cookie cutter method. RB EC simply HAS no objectives beyond the normal base bombing.

There are zero objectives on that map. You can’t win with the ground units. You can’t win with bases. You can’t win with AI air. You have to play TDM. Therefore, and what actually happens in these matches, is everybody furballs the exact same way as normal maps. They just arrive 10 seconds later to it.
10v10 as default and 8v8~12v12 optional, this is the call
