It’s been a bit since i stock grinded a stock jet in the top BR’s in Air RB and OMG im struggling. Currently working through the F/A-18C late.
Not having chaff is basically a death sentence in top BR air right now. I know Gaijin’s gotta keep some grind to make money but c’mon. This is a bit ridiculous.
Im basically just stuck staying super low and being a rat. Sometimes it works well. But most of the time i get nothing.
Does anybody have advice for the stock grind at the top BR as of late 2025?

Top tier is diseased, and always has been, AFAIK. But it’s intentionally built that way to encourage people to pay up if they somehow haven’t already.
I purposely avoid it in all game modes because of the simple fact that War Thunder never updated its core gameplay to fit in all the fancy new tech. Hell, even the likes of the Korea-era jets we started with never fit in well, and everything fancier than that made things worse.

Doesn’t help that they blocked 13.0+ planes from air assault mode, that used to be the best way to get critical mods for aircraft before going in to PvP matches.
I agree about the core game play, Gaijin needs to take a few updates just focusing on fixing fundamental game play issues rather than just plastering over the cracks as they appear.

Hopefully this new aerial warefare mode we’re supposed to be getting will help give some variety to the upper tiers of air but im not holding my breath.
It definitely seems like top tier is a total cash grab and designed to make you open your wallet. Just the cost to buy and crew a plane is nuts. Plus you basically have to expert the crew just to not blackout in every engagement.
I’m not holding my breath either, because all the problems stretched to their breaking points in the top tiers begin all the way back as low as 2.3BR props if you look closely enough, and those have not been addressed much, if at all.
Why did Air RB rot to the miserable state it’s currently in? Because any time attackers and bombers were able to matter, fighter mains screamed them down until they were irrelevant. CAS weaponry nerfs meant for Ground RB but also blanket-applied to Air RB added insult to injury. I do not believe we can begin building much in the way of new objective setup without first dealing with those overly selfish community factions. Otherwise, anything we build risks being screamed down again. Yes, snail has made plenty of dumb decisions on their own, but the truth is just as many of their dumb decisions are reactions to community actions.
Looks like they raised their prices on GE and discounted them back to their “old” values for the holiday. 25k used to always be $114 when I last bought that amount a few years prior.
I just grinded the j11b stock and tbh its not that bad like yeah top tier sucks in generally but not having chaff isnt really an issue for me, and I suck at air rb.
