you got a lot of open flat map in this game, some even had a very high slope for soviet to hulldown, you have tunisia, volkokalmsk (very rare), sinai, maginot, red desert, arctic, poland, alamein, normandy
some of the map’s smaller variant usually push you into close quarter but rarely an urban close quarter. most of these maps had elevations that make it impossible for soviet tank to hull down or camp so im not sure what is the issue of abrams is not made for warthunder enviroments
You’ll aim at the same spots in order to OHK or critically disable most tanks. Aiming to kill a single crew member and getting killed in return is not good enough.
You can hit anywhere on the turret ring and disable the m1. You can correct me if they have fixed this and i missed the patch, but the game is currently designed that the UFP will deflect rounds into the turret ring.
I think it ultimately boils down to this, maps are too small for most Western doctrine to shine, not to mention that aiming is made extremely easy by having the gunner sight be in the breach, so the Abrams turret ring weakspot becomes a major detriment that holds the tank down in CQC combat.
I hate Abrams, even when I try to play long range, hulldown it takes only 1 hit into breach to kill 2crew members and/or blow up ammunition.
The sound that gas turbine makes also makes it anoying to Play since as mention you dont rly need to aim to disable it, and unlike other NATO tanks where they have simillar sound you can get that turret ring or just hull will get you a free kill, while against tanks like Leo you dont know if its Simple 2A4 coming that you can just point and click or 2A7 where you need to aim.
Also ADATS is useless so even if you play defensive and you dont have S1/ITO/Flakbus on your team you will get cased.
No laser warning, no aps, and huge MG that will make picking from behind hill much harder, not to mention HE memed.
And while 5sec reload is nice, it only takes 1 hit to delte half of your crew and boom reload is gone, unlike Leclerc, tkx or even t80s with thier 6.5 no matter what

What does the Brit have that can hold a candle to the Abram , what did the Italy have before they get their 2A7 that can be considered half as good as the Abram ? Not to mention the Merks exist. You really complain about the turret ring when Soviet tank literally have a free shoot me zone that will kill the tank , that can be penned even with low pen APFSDS, also their gun handling and mobility can be considered as one of the worst except for some variants.
As if SPAA actually work when the CAS player is half decent , you aint getting stuff done even with S1 or any SPAA if the CAS player know what he doing. This is a problem for every nation in the game , not just US. Look at what SPAA other nation have , then look at the CAS line up for the US. I would like for every nation to have equal vehicle not just US only , I don’t care about how “strong” the S1 is. Just add more SPAA for every nation instead of nerfing or outright removing the S1 like some players have suggested
