This is a catastrophe. This is this end of warthunder naval

yyyeah, that’s the sad story. But unfortunately they really doing this as intended, all thanks to young gooneration, not a new trend here. Bad things started when consoles and PC got merged which lead to oversimplification and equalization of hardcore nerds (which the game was about from the start) and new players wave, but they are reaching their goals, numbers are growing and u can just accept it or leave.

oh god gonna grab my pills

war thunder with controller is bad you cant play good this game work much more better mk same of bf6 is worse on controller

Please go on senpais, tell me how to play naval.

It’s a side topic, but naval tournaments didn’t die off because of changes to the game. They were quite popular until 2023, when significant changes Gaijin made to the TSS prize table (changing most tournaments from SE or DE format to swiss rounds, reducing the average per-player GE payout for significantly increased player time playing) as the company favoured the serious “pro” teams with rewards more and more, and only in the modes that could attract a Twitch audience, turned a lot of people, including the teams I played on, away from tournaments in both popular and unpopular modes. I kept my winnings as a pleasant reminder of the fun days of naval.

ha hahahaha u really got me with this one. oh man. not frustrating. frustrating inconsistency is exactly how i would describe this game. yet, when things work as they should then it can be amazing. unfortunately thats only the case half the time. but it is what it is and long time players have adapted to it i guess. and then they change stuff again. and it gets even more annoying. huzzah!

If they dont want the gameplay to be frustrating then why is there heli ec, sold and possibly the main gamemode for helis to spade, annoying and boring af with literally 0 rewards for massive time investments?

Hey all I did was quote their exact words. They say they want a naval mode with as few button presses as possible. Who could be opposed to that? Button pressing wastes electricity and causes joint strain.

Sure, that why if you don’t turn immediately on torpedo signal it gets you. Just cause game give you almost no time. That’s why small boats have invisibility, that’s why vision range different in third person and in first one. That’s why you loose tracks of enemies on the minimap around you when you zooming in first person view. Yeah chill relax embrace death. I don’t think they doing it, i think “quickly” stays. Cause they are solving other problem.

That could be fixed with just removal of necessary holding.

Dying quickly is not frustrating for sure. Oh wait what did you say they want “reacting quickly not being essential to save your ship”. Damn if you dying quickly you need to think and act even more quickly to not to die. Hmm how so, we have a contradiction here.

that wasnt meant in any way as an attack on your words please dont take it as that, but rather that its actually quite funny that they actually say that while we all know, well, the game is how it is. and then theres hull compartments, unrepairable breaches, loss of unsinkability (yeah yeah most times the only way to get rid of a sojuz, well but everything else dies 3 times quicker from it -cough cough yamato with 8 compartments compared to iowa with 11, why, no one knows, cruiser he oneshotting battleships for weeks on end during a naval event and and and…

(DerZ, I know, I was just trying to figure out if Rowan has a sense of humor.)

Just an fyi, as someone on the spectrum, if this was meant to be a joke I could laugh with. I just didn’t get it okay

I don’t want to come across as overly hostile, I just deal with passive agressive sarcasm more often on the internet then I do attempts at humour. especially on this forum

It’s all good my man. Like your channel btw.

  • In the same way that in a tank, when you’ve just been damaged, you don’t want your tank to instantly immobilize itself to repair your modules when you could still move to take cover and repair them. AND WE HAVE THAT OPTION.
  • In the same way that if you’re playing a plane that has few countermeasures, you don’t want your plane to automatically spam all its defenses at the first missile that comes at you when you could wait for the right position and timing to save them. AND WE HAVE THAT OPTION
  • So why, in naval battles, would we be forced to repair while still under heavy enemy fire and squander all our crew on elements that are useless to us in this situation, when we could wait for a more favorable situation to repair the elements we really need? AND WE ARE GOING TO LOSE THIS OPTION

So please, Gaijn, just give us the option to switch between the two systems if you absolutely want to leave your shit here.

Thank you

This is the main point.

If an HE shell takes out my roof MG I can leave it as it is, if they damage my radiator I can still move to cover before fixing it, if the take out my horizontal drive I can still pivot my tank and fire back and if they set me on fire I can wait even 2-3 shots before starting to extinguish it.

For modern tanks they even removed the automatic deploiment of smoke that they have when they get laser targeted to not blind the player every time.

Tank combat in this game has an even higher skill cap than naval but nobody complains about it, as micromanaging these choices is the wall between the casual player and the experienced one.
Why they should dumb down everything for no reason in naval?

Also, this choice will not bring any new player for a simple reason:
Experienced players will just start playng a hyper passive meta to save their ships from the relentless fire of the bots (that will still maintain their perfect accuracy), while new players will try to brawl and advance towards the caps, getting focused by both bots and players and losing their ships in minutes.

As they will all start with DDs their experience will be extremely short because of what I said above and the fact that all naval maps are basically a free shooting gallery in each spawn.
Even more, as they changed the reward multiplier based on game time the fact that they will lose their ships really fast will only lead to miserable rewards.

So, by their new logic… extremely short life + miserble rewards = fun?
I think new players will just find it extremely frustrating and drop the mode.

So, some of you may remember that back in 2022 with the dev server of the update “Danger Zone”, Gaijin tried to introduce a hull break system in naval.

However that system was very badly implemented, to the point that you could hull break ships by only damaging the bow section, and could event sink battleships in this way with autocannons from boats, given enough time. Just like this system, it took away a lot of player agency over survivability and forced stupid deaths upon you.
Fortunately, there was enough player pushback that they decided not to implement that system, meaning there is a precedent if we want to try and prevent stuff from being implemented, despite the naval community being small.

I say that if you guys really want them not to add this system, make another thread titled something like “Do not implement the damage control changes”, put a poll asking them not to go forward with this, and get as many naval players as you can to vote and add a short reply telling Gaijin not to implement it (and don’t use it to ramble about the change, we have threads for that). Also include that one video showcasing how quickly ships get sunk with this system.
Go and ask the people in the naval communities you’re part of to vote in this. Hell, maybe go as far as to tell players in naval matches to go voice their opinions. Briefly tell them what’s the problem with the new system (being forced to repair), tell them to go to the forum, dev server section, and vote&reply to that thread. Maybe get the people from the Ru forum to get involved too, though I can’t remember if accounts from one forum can be used on the other.

Is it guaranteed that it’ll work? No. But hey at least we can try.

also thats exactly what bots do (well without the joint strain part but i can hardly believe the snail insists on that). and they went to some lengths to get rid of the damn botting squads in naval. now they turn us into bots. huzzah!

What’s frustrating is losing half my god damn crew to AA gun loss because an american main is pissing ammo at me in his cruiser for 3 minutes straight because he can’t actually penetrate my dreadnought and I can’t stop the repairs because Gaijin said so with the new damage control update.

That system is broken and unworthy to apply.
It’s all cause Snail didnt play in their game and/or cant hire competente game designer.
They really should fire at the spot whole current team and take some random ppl from that forum, cause this is cant be done any worse anyway.

There's no time to wait, let's fix the damage on the deck!
