I’m impressed that we’re still 91% of 211 players that do not like this …
And gaijin still do not react to this …

Make that 212 because I forgot to vote.
MatAWG just made a video about the new damage control system:
His summary of the new system:
I think it’s a great change. Hopefully they continue to improve Naval. (…)
This is a very good thing, because it was kind of confusing even how it worked before, as a tank player or an aircraft player to get to ships. And now I think it’s a little bit more simple and a little bit better in an overall sense that it’s a litte bit more automated. You can choose between them and it’s just going to work properly.
To be fair, I also heard many of these kinds of ‘arguments’ when the devs announced they were going to simplify the aiming system in Naval Arcade.
Simplification is a general trend in Naval, and I’m sure it will continue. The only problem I see is that a lot of people who never cared about Naval start claiming they’re going to play it once it gets simplified. Then the change gets added, and they never touch the game mode anyway.
I’m pretty sure that he is not playing naval a single …
Still not a great change .
Performative BS is what it is.
Make better tutorials, not lower the bar for the lowest common denominator. Especially non-naval players.
It’s not rocket science to understand fire bad and should probably be put out first 99% of the time if you know even the most basic understanding of vehicle combat.
The new changes benefit those with a barely functioning brainstem and/or new players and [heavily] punishing everyone else.
The problem is people want instant gratification and fast combat. You mostly [cannot get either] in bluewater. Especially at higher tiers unless you get a lucky ammo detonation.
Was it really that confusing? I’m primarily a plane/tank player, but the few times I’ve played naval, the damage control system was the least confusing thing about it.
Why should I be sending men out onto the decks to repair useless AA guns or torpedo tubes while my ship is being hit with HE? Why not wait until that has stopped?
This isn’t a quote from me, these are MatAWG’s words.
I’ve been playing Naval for 5 years, so for me the damage control system was never confusing. But I must admit, it required some knowledge to use it properly. I remember about a year ago, another player who had also been playing for years was shocked when I wrote a post about not repairing my ship to reduce crew losses.
The thing is, not everyone had that knowledge. The new system makes everyone equal - you don’t really need to know much anymore. Whether that’s good or not is, of course, a matter of personal opinion.
Personally, I prefer when a game requires some skill. That’s why I finally left Naval when the devs decided to make the aiming system fully automatic in Naval Arcade. But honestly, I was already close to quitting much earlier, because for the last 2.5 years (or even longer) the devs have been simplifying every single element of Naval.
I guess for some players it means an easier start. The problem is, with almost no skill element left, there’s not much room for improvement, and the game becomes boring quite quickly. But that’s just my perspective on it. Obviously, everyone can have their own opinion.
The devs clearly believe that simplifying Naval is the way forward.
I want to choose what I want to repair. This decision is forcing me to repair unnecessary secondary guns or funnels or barely damaged engines.
I am against simplification and unification of gameplay experience
In terms of naval tournaments:
This game is not tournament oriented. Because the gameplay is uneven even if Gaijin tries hard to remove diversity from each tech tree.
I spent my bluewater grind using USS Phelps and Z25, therefore only grinded coastal. I do not have the ships required in naval tournaments. I joined regular coastal tournaments (those are also highly favourable for Russian river boats)
A confusing game mode compared to aircraft or tank players??? What a joke! XD
Gaijn should just reduce or remove the key hold time to cancel a repair on the current system and add their automatic management option if they want, but keep the option to use the current manual system in the same way they did for countermeasure management in aircraft mode, or via a switch button in the settings (automatic/manual).
Naval tournaments are really fun, specially 3v3. More tactic
Mate that will never happen. People in this thread play naval and that’s like the main thing that’s forbidden for a gaijin employee to be naval game designer.
I noticed that you now have access to that damage control window on the dev and I had a look at it.
Might actually go to the trouble to catalog all the ships and their repair mults. I’ll post that table in a following replay
But another thing I noticed is that the crewskill “Survivability Leadership” is now absolutely useless
attached is a small video showcasing this
I hope this is just not implemented correctly yet and will be before we hit live.
But if it’s intended to have no effect, I really hope they consider a possible reimbursement or at least make sure new people won’t spend crew xp on it
Still shit…
Road to leave WT.
Gaijin breaking the core naval mechanic and pulling half other mechanics down with it just for fun without listening to its playerbase? IMPOSSIBLE, HAVE NEVER DONE THAT.
Also, you could make a channel talking about quick facts and mechanics of naval and stuff like that with your voice, not even joking. Well, you could if gaijin left any depth to naval mechanics instead of automating everything. We’ll soon be watching the bots play our ships for us instead of playing them ourselves at this point.
A lot of the CCs that I’ve seen that said this change is great mostly have coastal boats unlocked and basically stopped playing the bluewater TT at early cruisers.
One reliable feedback would be Napalmratte but he still haven’t take a clear stance in this mess.
If you think about it this change is only good for coastal matches where the pace is really fast and you rack a lot of damage as small boats give the same amount of points as a BB now.
After this change you’ll be able to really shut down your brain in coastal as you’ll only need to drive, shoot, die fast and repeat, perfect for those who only care to get points for events or get missions done for daylies.
For capital ships it’ll be a real mess:
The problem? You can’t do anything to stop your ship from melting away against your will.
At least they reduced the repair prices before coming up with this idea. Imagine paying the old repairs every 3-4min.
A possible solution would be some kind of saturation mechanic, so that, after they broke your AA guns for the nth time, you’ll just repair it without bleeding out your crew.
I think they just forgot this skill existed and will have to deal with all the spaghetti code related to it.
A possible solution is to revert back to old damage control which was, if not perfect, then definitely good enough for war thunder naval.
Everything else is a garbage solution to a problem which should not have existed in the first place.
Also
I think they just forgot that actual people play naval. Genuinely should’ve just forgotten naval completely a couple patches ago after fixing armor holes in a lot of ships (one thing in the last few years they actually did right), would’ve been better for the game mode.
that’s the plan )))))
I’m just a horrendous procrastinator.
Don’t procrastinate too much, or the only thing that will be left to talk about is ships’ history.
